Is anyone off of here organising a minibus/coach to and from the game?

Re: CSKA Moscow v City (Wednesday 23 October)

The info posted is out of date or complete nonsense though I read most of it.

For example, migration cards are now printed by computer by the immigration agent. You DONOT fill them out. There are some queues but two hours is ridiculous. It will take about 30 mins. Just jump in a queue that has two agents at the windows. Goes twice as fast. Also depends how many flights are coming in at that hour.

Don't show your mobile phone to random drivers especially if it's a nice shiny one. Take a hotel card with you and show it to the driver. The metro closes at 1am and opens at six. Just stay up all night and avoid taxis. Also you could go on google or yandex maps and print out your street out in Russian before you leave. Will help if you get lost.

There are thousands of expensive phones in this city. No one is going to grab it unless you're waving it around and screaming 'take this'!

The streets are as safe as any big city though the football factor might bring out a few knobs. Just say Nyet, Nyet to every stranger that asks a question.

Slim shady is right, some sound people here, who just want to have Fun (autocorrect wrote Finland, oops) and some random twats. Ignore them and use common sense.

Nice to get some perspective on it. Really looking forward to the trip, going to apply common sense and keep my wits about me, should be same as any big city, just with a different alphabet!
Bring it on.

Re: CSKA Moscow v City (Wednesday 23 October)

that writeup on Moscow is a load of absolute bullshit, must be dating back to around 1995.

also, things point that i'll be organizing a bus specially for those flying in on the gameday by Easyjet, and anybody else who's OK with taking a bit of a risk, as it MAY not arrive to the ground in time, but it's highly unlikely. if there's enough interest, i'll be meeting people in the airport and then having them seated first on the train and then on the bus.

if you're flying in by Easyjet, do check my thread.

Re: CSKA Moscow v City (Wednesday 23 October)

Thank fuck I picked Pilzen and Munich over that. Sounds worse than the ghetto.[/quote]

Luckily, I'm doing all three - Moscow is the big one though.

If you'd asked me at the start of the season where I'd choose to watch City in the CL, I'd have picked Moscow.

Plzen was good, some said it was one of the best City aways ever. I think that was probably more to do with Prague than Plzen. I've been to Prague a few times, you don't need City as an excuse to go there.

I'm looking forward to Munich, been there a few times for The Octoberfest and with work. Went last time with City. I like Munich it's a good town, but it isn't one of the world's great city's - Moscow is though and I can't wait to get there.

Those of us who are fortunate enough to be going are probably going to see sites and hopefully have experiences we will remember for life. Plzen town square and another night on the piss on Marienplatz just isn't at the same level.

The advice given on here is appreciated, but you could give similar advice for most major citys in Europe. I'm going to Moscow to watch City, I'll behave like a tourist, not a Brit on the piss - there's a time and a place for that - Plzen and Munich being two of them. I'm not worried at all, I'm not going with TC, I wont be using their coach transfer. Part of the experience for me is making your own way around at a time to suit yourself. I'm going to be trying out Moscow's trains, Metro and the buses and hopefully plenty of bars along the way. Spend some time with the locals - don't know why they are getting such a bad press on here.

Most of all though I'm looking forward to a few days out with the best supporters in the world and 3 points in the bag.

Visa still not come yet though....

Hey, guys! Does anybody know what airport does the team land in? I'd like to go there and get some photos and autographes)

Re: CSKA Moscow v City (Wednesday 23 October)

Doesn't sound too promising....

@jamesappell: A warning to those City fans ahead of CSKA tie - you may be relieved that the game will be in Moscow, but the pitch is going to be shocking.

Re: CSKA Moscow v City (Wednesday 23 October)

I've just been drinking with some Russians involved in organising the 2018 world cup.

If they are an example of what Russians are like we'll have a great time!

Re: CSKA Moscow v City (Wednesday 23 October)

I salute each and every Blue venturing over to Moscow. I'm sure you'll have a great trip, lets hope the team are as committed as you lot out there!

To get you in the mood, there is a good documentary on the iplayer about the Pussy Riot movement. Worth a watch.

OOOOh..... stupid pussies that screwed up querries in google for the word "pussy". Moreover, they blasphemed in a church... Before that, they had done many things like that, including that one, when they f@)ked right in the museum in front of many people. Kids were there too, I guess... They didn't let people live, distrubing them. So, If you don't think they have deserved a harsh judgement, you have ABSOLUTELY wrong outlook on life. I'm an atheist and I heard about the situation with the Christianity in the West countries, and it's awful. One can't simply say "Christ" (at least in the Muslim areas) or mustn't show he's a Christian. I hope there's no infringements of other religion ot atheists. It seems to me that the situation similar to that is with the liberalism in Europe and USA, I'm talking about g(*)ys and stupid excessive freedom, like in USA. I'm quiet not sure if the same can go to GB, but those like Pussy Riots mustn't get any compassion or understanding. Or our world is going to enrage even more.

In my opinion, they should put hem at a loony bin, as they're really ill and, on the assumption of what have they done, they are mentally insane. On the other side, when the threat of going to a jail came up, they had started acting like as the most adequate and logically correct, even like a pro lawyers. So, maybe the jail is the right place for them.

And, to not to write a 100% offtopic post, I'd like to ask again about the airport our football team is landing at (and what time it does), and give you some advice - Take some cash in roubles with you, or get it here
