Cycling Advice

Surprised not much mention of ebikes. For the slightly older person they are a godsend.
During the recent good weather I was out 3 hours a day cycling, been impossible for me on a non electric.
People have an idea they are a kind of cheating on the fitness, not so.
They have usually 3 levels of assistance, mine goes at 30% 50% 70%.
The help you receive when riding takes away the aversion to hills, so allows for longer journeys.
I hadn't cycled for years until last year, and when I started had to use the 70% and 50% a lot.
Now I find my 2 most regular settings are 0 and 30% so it definitely helps with overall health.
Cheating ****.... ;0)

40 lies done this morning, managed to avoid the rain thankfully, all done in 2:45, traffic definitely getting busier though.
Just stop fucking lying Inchy :D

Also noticed the roads getting busier, tbh i don't think i'll be doing as much of the local riding i've been doing if the roads start picking up again. Already had a couple of scary moments with cars passing too close.

I'm 54 this year and would consider an e-bike as cheating. If you can't struggle up a hill before reaching the summit with a burst of joy then there's fuck all point.

I went out after work today and managed to get in 9.5 miles and 90m of ascent. It took me 40 minutes, and considering it was a bit gusty it wasn't too shabby. It must be doing me some good because I've managed to get my resting heart rate from 61bpm down to 55bpm

I'm only doing three rides a week at the moment, but I'm planning to start riding to work once I'm up to it (7.3m and 80m ascent outbound, 7m and 60m ascent return), so I probably need to up my mileage a bit because I'm not quite sure I've got a 70+ mile/700m ascent week in my legs just yet.

That's not old!! I'm 55 and I wouldn't get one yet.

As for the brakes debate (above) I have road bikes with both and prefer the calliper brakes on my beautiful older Specialized.
