I think Dunnie might suprise us all this season and sort his act out.
Ben Haim is on more money than Dunne and how many teams will be willing to pay a reported 60k a week? I love people that come on and say ohhh lets get rid of ........... to do that you need a buyer! Dunnie has value, Ben Haim does not, haven't we as fanss learnt anything from Danny Mills time at City?

This is exactly the point - its all well and good to say 'Get rid of Ben Haim first', and in an ideal world we would. But unfortunately we can't just sack him, so to get rid we need a buyer - and there is no indication anyone wants to buy the useless lump off us, particularly on the ridiculous wages we're paying him.

Dunne, however, does have his admirers and is a saleable asset - if we get Lescott, I believe we should sell Dunne as he won't be an automatic starter anymore, and he needs to be at this point in his career. We would then have Toure and Lescott as our first choice Centre Backs, with Onuoha, Richards and Ben Haim (although I hope he never gets anywhere near the pitch this season) as back-up, leaving the path clearer for the youngsters like Mee and McGivern - who looked so good in pre-season.

Thats the point, it's not like any(or many)people think TBH is a better player, it's simply what the market will handle and a 60k a week CB with the "skills" that TBH has is a pretty hard sell to anyone.

With the 60k a week issue surrounding TBH, maybe if the rumours of Taylor to Toffees were true Newcastle would be in the market for a CB and their wage structure is enough of the Joke to make the offload possible.

I think if Dunne does go it will be jan when Kompany is back in contention after his toe problems.

Toure Ned lescott (If he signs, if he doesnt Dunne defo aint going) TBH doesn't give us much cover until Vinnie is match fit then Hughes has his work cut of to establish the best combination which may not be the best 2 palyers on paper.

So we keep a shit player because he is on daft money ?

Free transfer and a lump sum pay off if needed hes that bad. HEs got another 3 years left on that deal at least. Paying him a couple of million to leave is good business IMO as every time he plays he costs us points.

Bye, Bye Dunny,
Hello Lescott,
I definitely won't cry,
so bye bye dunny,
bye bye.

Yeah, bet you'd have loved Dunney to leave when we couldn't score under Pearce and Dunne was one half of the central defence that kept us in the league. How about the 4 times he won player of the year, or when him and Micah's heroics kept out the rags at home home. What about Liverpool at home 2 seasons ago when he marked Torres out of the game. Bet you wouldn't have been crying if he'd left then either. Dunne deserves so much more respect than some of the comments you read on here. He isn't a top 4 defender no, but he does put 100% in week in and week out and helped keep us in the division on more than one occasion. If he goes he deserves our best wishes and gratitude, not snide digs.

Well said - a few years ago he was on his uppers and sorted himself out big style - I would be sad to see him go - I too reckon he should be given a chance to get back to top form - he's been a great defender for us and we should remember that.

Don't think we are after him. An ITK who generally gets everything right has told the reports are BS.

Thats the bottomline, yes.... Thats what happened with Danny Mills, I guess the hope is that once the season starts someone will look to take him on loan(as happened last season)and that will help us cut our loses.
