Didnt realise you played that Ant, had it in its many formats for years.
Yeah i'm a bit excited because tonight is the first time i can try out my new horse i've just bred. Had a runner at 1m2f that won absolutely everything it entered 3 seasons in a row, it was unbeatable at every group1 race. Managed to get myself a sexy lady that won a fair group1's so retired them both to stud at the ages of 5 and 6 to get plenty of babies out of them, and let them get jiggy with each other. So the babies should be absolute superstars

Very sad :)

How much time out of your life does this game take? Really want to have a go but 1 I have a mac and 2 I have a wife.

I am on season 18 and the breeding program has started to go wrong for me.

breeding two mile horses and the offspring is showing ideal distnace of 1m3f but then the horse keeps fading but finding 1m2f not enough.

Thinking of starting again.

My best horse won 40G1s from 5f at 2yo to 1m2f at 8yo

You could get through a season in a couple of hours depending on the schedule you use. I dont know if they are releasing so5 for mac or not.

Nothing like football manager, but i'd say i spend a fair few hours a week on it when i'm not doing anything. Problem is, once you breed a horse who's looking good you keep going and going until you find their right distance then start going for the bigger races which means you can spend hours a time on it, it's worth a go though it won't take over your life

I only really do the flat racing, i get bored on the jumps because i like to watch the race and they take too long to get going because you can only really start on the longer races until the season moves on

-- Wed Sep 07, 2011 5:40 pm --

I normally retire mine at about 6 if they are shit hot or sell them at about 4/5 if they aren't progressing. Problem is i've got that much cash now i can just buy any horses i want, and sell mine on. I only keep about 15 horses a time aswell, having too many pisses me off having to schedule the races and stuff takes ages so i keep my yard pretty low

I just play it when ever and save it when i get bored, I would say a season takes a month or so.

I usually PM this to a select few but i'll stick it on here.

My horse, Captain Kolo runs tomorrow at Carlisle in the 4.30.

As some of you know, he's been frustrating and expensive to follow and hasnt lived up to the promise as a 2yo.

This ownership game is all about trial and error and every race is a learning curve until you find something that clicks. We've tried Kolo at 5f and 6f and he seems to have better form over 6f this year but he still isnt performing to the standard he does at home. We're stepping him up to 7f tomorrow, just short of. I told a few of you not to back him until I told you to. I wouldnt say im tipping him, but I will say is IF 7f is the answer, he should win tomorrow. He has a good draw, ground should suit goes well for Kelly Harrison and it looks a winable race.

His last run over 6f he came 2nd, was a little outpaced with 2f left and then stayed on in the last furlong and the winner looked in trouble but Kolo couldnt get there. Another furlong may well be the answer.

That said, its just as possible its too far and he needs dropping back to 6 and he runs out of steam with a furlong left.

No idea what price he will be, but if theres value in the odds, its worth a cheeky bet, just in case. I wouldnt back him at a short price.
What the lowest odds you would back him?

Just had a look at the field, you might have bumped into one on upward curve, Watts up son has been rated 79 and dropped right down before having a couple of good runs the apprentice (Hart) effectively puts it at 56 after taking his 7 claim off. Hart has had 6 rides in the last two weeks - 2 wins 2 seconds and a 3rd. Reverse Forecast?

On the basis of the ratings, I wouldnt say he is on an upward curve. He was racing beyond his level and has dropped down to a basement mark, but still hasnt won and has been 2nd and 3rd to horses rated in the late forties and early 50's. Whilst he may be running well in that grade, this is a much tougher task. If he wins he must be 10-12lb better than his rating. If he'd won the two races by a few lengths, i'd fully agree with you.

Does have a talented apprentice on him tho.
Definitely looks a talented jockey.

Does anyone else find on SO4 that their game crashes a lot?

From what i've read, might be something to do with the schedule I've downloaded.

What schedule do you guys use?

Never heard of this game until 3 or 4 days ago but im loving it. I bought a claimer for £11750, kept running it in C4/5 handicaps and tried different trips. Breeding wanted 1m3f but he never stayed, dropped him to a mile and he just coasted a Group 3!
