They sell them by the ton in my local Co-op (more Mail then Express). All the elderly crypto-fascists round here can’t cope without their daily fix of fear and indignation.
 
I think a lot of people enjoy being angry/outraged.

How often do we see an article headed: 'Fury at...'

(Though 9/10 times it's something like an old fossil complaining about the colour of bus tickets, or some similar triviality,)

Was in a cafe at a garden centre yesterday. No laptop users - just wall to wall focs with the Mail. And one foc scrolling Blue Moon

I wouldn’t say idiots. The majority of people are content to be followers and most want to be known as belonging to Great Britain, an ownership responsibility, if you will. And they feel strongly about that and have to accord with the establishment, in many ways.

It’s not idiocy, it’s just following. Just the leaders of this land no longer follow certain protocols and the electorate are too far behind to notice.
 
I was very happy to take some money off the Daily Mail when I had a run of winning a couple of their crossword puzzles a few years back,a very poor newspaper though.
