Dalglish gone (MERGED)

It's hypocritical in the extreme from Liverpool fans, they essentially hounded Hodgson out the door after a few months yet Dalglish, who has had 18 months and has delivered a shocking league campaign after spending a fortune on players in that time, is being harshly treated by the management! Keep the last 18 months exactly the same, but replace Dalglish with anyone else, and they'd have been protesting in their thousands for the managers head.

The simple facts were that Dalglish failed in almost every capacity, he had a good couple of cup runs but in the league he was woeful. He spent extortionate sums on players who aren't good enough. He attempted to play football the way they did in the late 80's without seemingly realising that it was 2011/12 and everyone else had progressed. His dealings with the media were fractious at best, and stunningly arrogant/aggressive at their worst. And his handling of the entire Suarez affair was bordering on the criminally negligent when it came to the damage he was causing to football in general and Liverpool specifically. Dalglish was who the fans wanted, that's who they were given, and they got what they deserved, a dinosaur, an analog manager in the digital age. Their Boston owners did what they had to do, rid the club of the dead weight that Dalglish was. The fans will hate them for it though, and whoever takes over will be given the "Hodgson treatment", he'll be Dalglish's unwanted replacement and they'll hate him for it too.

I'm no fan of Dalglish and the easy rise he got from the Liverpool fans but he delivered the Carling Cup and got to the Final of the FA Cup. That's not failing on almost every capacity. Failure is early round exits and not two trips to Wembley for the North Wales and Cheshire massive.

I'm a Liverpool fan here and just hope that the owners have got someone better lined up.

Coming 8th for a club like Liverpool is just not good enough plus a Carling Cup but at times Liverpool was incredibly unlucky hitting the post and having players like Suarez, Lucas, Gerrard and Agger out for a while.

Next season if they are all fit and with Carroll looking better and a few more signings then I believe top four is realistic.

Personally would like to see someone like Guardiola or Capello in though.

It's a buisiness League position is all that counts nowadays, Cups are nice but they are a side show, it's Top 4 or bust especially for a club the size of Liverpool

-- Wed May 16, 2012 6:48 pm --

That's not going to happen in reality, your getting the Wigan manager

If they are lucky they will get the Wigan Manager. As flavour of the Month, Martinez may hold out for a better job.

That was an incredible post by Matty.

Martinez got Swansea playing good passing flowing football and Rodgers took over. Seems like a good bloke and probably wouldn't be as bad as people say.

Dear Lord, RAWK can be such a joy sometimes. Hyperbole much??

He obviously means he's excited to see who our next manager is. I am. I'm also disappointed that Kenny has left.

That's like standing at the side of the road after your parents have been killed in a car crash and getting excited about who your foster parents might be...

I honestly had to check whether Kenny Dalgleish had passed away there's so much grief on that site. They will never admit it, but he was terrible for that club, perhaps even worse than Roy H. Wasted an absolute shitload of money on cack players, presided over a huge PR disaster and performed terribly in the league.

Sad thing is, if they get Martinez in, he won't be given a chance by a large percentage of their support. Could ruin an excellent young manager.
