It's the c**tish, hipster way of describing a midfielder who sits in front of the back four and can dictate play.

It's a position that's existed for about 30 years, but FIFA players like to use it to think they're smart and progressive.

Think of Busquets or Alonso. A technical deep playing midfielder. A player with the vision for a fantastic forward pass. So much more positive the role of pivot than the defensive midfielder.

Nothing funnier than seeing people get upset over a word which is in incredibly wide usage and describes the function of the player perfectly.
