Maybe Alves' is putting a word in for Pep ;)I'm sure the possibility exists but the board would not come back with their tail between legs to resign him after what has been said publicly. Neymar & Alves are like brothers, that's just them enjoying the offseason

A lot of fans also voted for this board - as you probably experience with City, not all fans see things the same way when it comes to their club
I love Neymar's game but I think he should be further along today than he is and most importantly I resent that 3 years in a row he has intentionally gotten himself sent off to attend his sister's birthday party where points have been dropped. As a professional, he is less than ideal by most standards nevermind those of Barcelona. Alves, by comparison, is considered a real jokester but he would never do something like this

The guy is 34 years old, he's been around long enough to know that he doesn't have to be rushing around here there and everywhere to sign a new contract.
Would it make sense to call him back from his holiday in Brazil just to sign a contract then send him away for a week before he has to come back again?
Would it not make more sense to tell him to come back in a week for pre-season and sort everything out then?

Why not just get his verbal agreement and then agree to sort everything out at the start of pre-season?
If the player belonged to another club then of course it's different. However, we're talking about a free agent who wants to play for us, rushing around here there and everywhere, interrupting people's schedules just doesn't make sense. Add to that the staff required to sort Dani Alves' signing may also be needed here for other signings.
All of it would be for what, to announce the signing of a free agent a week earlier, the club know what they're doing.

Sure I agree, but fans are stakeholders as well, there are plenty of people buying tickets for friendlies, arranging travel & accommodation etc. They'd like to know whether they're going to see Alves or an academy player. Or do you not think the fans should be considered in this way? I'm not suggesting transfer policy should be based on anything to do with fans, but if its such a done deal then I think the club should get it sorted
Given that there's no hint that anyone else is in for him, a free-contract for one of the best right backs in the game,it seems the whole of football knows where he is going. We're actually in a very good position. Clubs like Spurs, Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea have done nothing of note yet. It's City and Arsenal who have made the big moves so far.

I find that barely believable that somebody would intentionally get themselves sent off to attend a birthday party? Not once but three times!!!

Depends on whom you ask. Board screwed up, they know this even if they won't acknowledge it. The bigger screwup isn't really that they wouldn't keep him before heading to Turin for free but that they did nothing for years about grooming a replacement. He's far from the player he was in 2008 but most athletes aren't going to be the same a decade later. So he wasn't going to stay indefinitely but surely could still be playing for Barcelona today - that right side is hurting without him
The best part about Dani, apart from his professionalism and team spirit, was the linkup with Messi - it was special. Truth is, I used to spend all of the warm up focused on him & Leo preparing for a match and you got a glimpse of how he might play in the match. Today, Messi warms up with Neymar & Suarez and it's a tepid warmup by comparison - I think he misses that link up with Alves, tbh
