not really, our modern succes is built on us spashing the cash. No one can argue against that. Barcelona, love or hate em, still does things the Johan Cruyff way. Of course we got history, but I dont see anything in Alves comments that ignores that. Just that City and Barca are differently built clubs.

For what its worth, i think he can be a bit of a ****, but we need that, and he seems immensly popular in every dressing room he's a part of

Oh dear. Still does things the Johan Cryuff way! And when exactly did that start!

Alves clearly had no idea of City's history as this quote shows:

“When Manchester City got new owners and started buying some of the best players in Europe everybody knew who they were - but until then I must be honest I didn't know about them."

I could care less that we would not have been a household name in Brazil when Alves was growing up but it is a fact that we have a longer history than Barca and like them, we have had periods of success and failure.

Seems strange to me. We let Zabba (32) and Sagna (34) leave for free to sign Alves (34) for £5m! Bloody stupid. Maicon was good too once, past it by the time we got him. What is it with us and full backs? Are we actually not as rich as we thought? £5m for a has been instead of paying what it takes to get Kyle Walker and Fabinho.

Honestly, comparing Sagna to Dani Alves......................

*could not*

The saying is 'I could not care less...'

If you could care less then it means you care a considerable amount.

His comments was really more about how the two clubs have operated in the modern years. Hence why he said we're a modern club thats been built on huge transfer fees (our modern success, that has made us looked upon worldwide as a elite club is down to our ambitions in the transfer market), while Barcas success in recent years is built on the ideas of one of the biggest names in football all the way from when he was a player there. Its a perfectly fine statement to make, and doesn't take anything away ftom our history. Even tho Alves says he didn't know who we were, he's never said anything that ignores the fact we had history prior to 2008.
Stupid thing to use as a stick to beat him with, especially since it came right before a game against us, and he was a Barca player at the time

Who would you like to be our right back target?
