We talking as first choice i take it?? He'll get roasted week in week out, maybe at a push as a second choice.

I don't know what "first choice is", but I'm sure he'll be Pep's first choice for some games and Walker for others. We are bringing in 4 fullbacks this summer.

How much do you know about Dani Alves, other than his age?

And he's a winner. Pep highlighted our players' mentality this year, and bringing in a smattering of serial winners can only be good, if they are team players - Viera, Yaya, Lampard, Tevez added loads to the team.

Edit: ok, not sure Tevez was a team player. But a winner, certainly.

Yes and he said "7 years ago I didn't even know Manchester City was a club", ie, he didn't know until 2008.

Why?

He told you, because he's 34. It's astounding reasoning and totally illogical when you look at how he is performing. I think some are just on the wind-up now.

If we are getting 4 new full-backs, having someone like Alves training with them each day could be a real asset. He knows the Pep system for fullbacks as well as anybody. That alone could we worth the benefit for a few seasons. Plus he's a great squad option.

I'm on board with this 110%.

It's self evident he knows fuck all if he thinks he's gonna get roasted week in week out. Spectacular levels of ignorance.

Great signing, his age is irrelevant. He will fit into the side like a glove, top mentality, proved last year he can still play at the highest level and I can't wait to see him in the shirt.

Take away the fact he is a great player look at what else he will bring

Leadership especially when Vinny is out
Experience on the biggest stage will settle players
Maturity in helping younger players especially South American settle and decision making
Good influence in dressing room

No brainier at the price quoted

Walker will learn so much from him

Get him in! Not arsed about age. Don't think we are having first choices and back ups we are having a deep quality squad with the best suited to tactics etc on the day picked. C'mon City!

If he comes in and can hold up to playing in the Premier league week in week out i'll be the first to hold my hands up.

No you wont. You've just informed us that he is going to get roasted week in week out in such an assured tone that you're won't have to. Or are you now admitting your talking through your hat ?

Yep. That's why I say aspire to be as good. I don't believe signing players not good enough for barca 2 years ago is the way forward.
As for his off the field value , I couldn't comment as I don't know his level of English skills or his character.
He put Barca out of the CL last season.

You're clueless.

And I reckon Pep knows his language skills and character.

He was, unquestionably, a great success at Juventus in the season just ended. His skills as a defender are world class. Add to that his attacking skills in a 3-5-2 formation are very tasty too.

Every one in the media said last season that he was still the best right back in the world wonder what they think if he comes to us

Dani Alvez is still 1 of the best RB in world football, he was fucking fantastic last year for Juve especially in Champs league where he ripped it up.

I would say the guy at Madrid think it's Carvahal who is the best IMO appart from him then if we get Walker & Alvez we have 2 of the best Simple!!!

Carvajal (sp?) is vastly overrated, in my opinion. He'll never be as good as Alves was at his peak. Although he is coming to the end of his career as a player he is still top class and is a leader. It would be foolish not to sign him.
