Does this rule mean anything? From the official champs league player eligibility rules

18.07 As a rule, a player may not play in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA
Champions League and UEFA Europa League, but not UEFA Super Cup) for
more than one club in the course of the same season. Exceptionally,
however, a player who has been fielded in the first, second or third qualifying
round of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League is entitled to
play in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League for another
club as from the group stage, provided that his former club did not qualify for
the group stage of either the UEFA Champions League or the UEFA Europa
League;

I think this basically says it all. Surely, Mancini wanted to sign Agger in order to be able to include him in the group stage of the Champions League?! Liverpool are highly likely to qualify for the group stage of the Europa League, therefore Agger will not be able to play for City in the Champions League until the knock-out stage in February. Not good. My opinion is they now move on, and try and signed a defender who can play in the group stage. Bonucci or Chiellini, anyone?!

It was this post yesterday morning that prompted my concern.......

Apparently the rules have been changed for this season.

Further, as per Champions League regulation 17.18, one player per club who would normally be cup-tied can be registered and eligible to play, so long as his previous club did not field him in the same competition, meaning that this player can represent two different clubs in the Europa League and Champions League.

Hi all, apologies for the late reply. Currently sat in Manchester airport boarding a flight to Paris at 6 am as I am on business/holiday for the weekend. The delay yesterday, was partly down to Ian Ayre being an incompetent fool as well as them signing Allen From Swansea. I expect
Things to be brought up to speed today, especially
After the telling off Marwood has had (not only from Mancini).
Of course you are at the airport. We believe you.

Such a re-occurring pattern when it comes to WUMs. Shortly before the deadline expires they always are going away on a "business trip" when in reality they live in their mom's basement and the only "business trip" they go on is the trip to the toilet to take a shit.
