Daniel Agger (continued)

Daniel Agger has admitted he would like to stay at Liverpool, but admits the situation is out of his hands.

Manchester City and Barcelona are chasing Agger with Premier League champions City believed to have seen two bids already rejected for the classy central defender.

City are thought to be readying a third bid for Agger with Roberto Mancini keen to bring in the defender before the close of the transfer window.

It has been suggested Liverpool could be prepared to sell Agger for the right price as they could use the funds to strengthen the squad elsewhere.

Agger, who is away on international duty with Denmark for Wednesday's friendly with Slovenia, claims he is unaware of interest in his services and hopes he can stay at Anfield.

"No, I haven't heard anything, Agger told Ekstra Bladet when asked about his future.

"That is how the club wants to do it. I would prefer to stay.

"I can't imagine playing for other clubs in England. But, you never know if the club prefers to sell me."

Tattoo
Agger has recently had a new tattoo with the initials of the famous Liverpool song 'You'll Never Walk Alone' on his knuckles and the 27-year-old insists the artwork has nothing to do with his current situation.

"It has nothing to do with my current situation," added Agger. "It is a gesture towards the Kop, towards Liverpool and towards the people around the club."
.

Doesn't sound like he would snub a move if the club decides to sell. The opposite actually.

If true then fair enough and good luck to him.

the actual quate in danish:

Jeg vil helst blive. Jeg kan ikke forestille mig at spille for andre klubber i England. Men man kan aldrig vide, om klubben ser det som det bedste at sælge mig.
my attempt at a translation:

I would prefer to stay. I cannot se my self playing for any other club in England, but you never know if the club thinks its best to sell me.
basically he wants to come and is blaming the club for agreeing to sell him should he go.

Exactly what I was thinking. Hopefully it could be sorted by the time we play Southampton, I don't think these stupid international games are going to help either.

bluefandk's extended version of the quote gives it much more context than the Dipper trying to fool us all, and actually gives the impression that Agger would do it IF Liverpool decided to sell.

He blatantly loves it there and wants to stay, I know we are putting a positive spin on the quotes but lets be real. Good luck to him and lets go after someone that actually wants to be here.

From EkstraBladet, a Danish newspaper.

Translation says this :

Quotes from Agger today in Danish media.

"I want to stay. I can not imagine playing for other clubs in England."

If true then fair enough and good luck to him.

the actual quate in danish:

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm ambivalent about him tbh. Would be a great signing for anything under 20 mill, but if he wants to stay at Liverpool then fair play to him. When we were a mid-table club it's just the sort of loyalty that I used to wish for (and occasionally get) in our players. Human beings can be very complex creatures.

He'd rather be at Liverpool, we'd rather have someone who'd prefer to be here more than his existing club. Move on city.

He goes out of his way to make sure everyone knows its not his fault if he has to move, but he never says he would refuse to move to City.

He is also quoted as saying that his new tatoo has nothing to do with his current situation, the tatoo is a salute to the kop and the city of Liverpool.

A round of applause, someone else who can see right through their usual 'modus operandi', same old same old, deary me.

I think this transfer will happen and is being stage managed well so that everyone comes out of it in a good light.

The transfer fee will be "undisclosed" so that dippers can believe it was 25/27mil whereas we'll prob get him for 20ish.
