Daniel Agger (continued)

Given yesterdays game and the set up, I can see a back 3 of Kompany, Lescott and Agger at the back. Can't see Savic surviving there and Clichy and Zaba are not back 3 guys. Clichy and Kolarov will contest wing back and Milner, Richards and Zaba the other flank. So if Agger was signed, then I'm sure he'd get plenty of game time.
 
Was interested why Agger says nothing about this deal, but today made me sure that he would rather stay.

I would move on. Let him stay there. For 20m we could get very good defenders and less injury prone defenders. This is the big reason they want to sell him for a good fee. They know they cant get 30 league matches out of him in one season even if he is very good in the other 10-15-20 matches when he plays.
And then spend the money on what they need.
 
Don't think we'll hear anything this week with int'l friendlies and most good players away from their clubs, then the season begins this weekend.

After those comments I'm not too keen on having him here. Kudos to the man for his sense of loyalty though, and I wish him a good career at Liverpool.

So who then do we now take our aim at, not too expensive and ready to sit on the bench from time to time?

Gordon Schildenfeld? (The Croat was very impressive during the Euros I think)
Andrea Barzagli?
Giorgio Chiellini?

I'm sure Bob would have have considered Chiellini and Hummels looks a good player but it would take a hefty chunk of cash and protracted negotiations to get anywhere near these 2 and probably not enough time for this window but who knows? ..we're getting a bit more savvy with deals nowerday...maybe a nice shock before the end of the window?
