Been said before but:
1. Overpriced
2. Injury prone
3. Don't finance your 'competition'
4. How good is he really?

debatable
possibly
not competition
very good

It's an awful lot of money
Probably
'apostrophies'
No Sky. If we sign him, I hope so.

4. How good is he really?

1. Debatable it could be negotiated
2. Still can play up to 30 games and he isn't in RSC bracket
3. We gave money to Aston Villa but it still made no difference.
4. He is good enough to challenge Lescott

Well the rodwell fee was undisclosed for about half an hour then all the everton fans started getting excited saying we had paid 20 million plus for him so it was leaked to BBC we had only actually paid 12 million with a few million extra Possible addons based on success.

This guy is injury prone and is not making the right noises at all. The polls I saw on city blogs showed the vast majority of city fans do not want him if he's going to cost over 15 million.

2. That's only 1 in 2 matches if we're as successful as we pray
Isn't this an easy, uncomplicated way of doing things!
Lets all hope if he does sign he's a rip-roaring success

Still can provide valuable cover and plus he has both Champions League, albeit not for the past couple of years and Premier League experience.
Yep a simple debate that can be answered without rambling too much.

So Agger will cost 20 million and high wages

Vertonghen cost Spurs 10 million and not a high wages

So why City didnt try to sign Vertonghen in the first place ?

Do you ever stop to think that our manager may not like the player ?

tbf its a good point, would have been a lot cheaper.

Not really, Agger was one of the best defenders in the PL last season, where as Vertonghen is an unproven player from the Dutch league. And Vertonghen hasn't looked particularly special in preseason play. I'd rather not have him at 10 mil tbh.

That's what Kompany said about Vertonghen last year:

“You hear 40 names per month of players who could move to Manchester City. However, it is not a coincidence that Vertonghen is linked with the club.”

“Jan is ready to make the next step and is good enough for Manchester City. I am sure that he will succeed at his next club, regardless of whether he joins us or decides to move elsewhere. He is simply a fantastic footballer”, he added.

“He can fill in at left-back, at centre-back and can also act as holding midfielder. He has already played many good games for Belgium in midfield. He has the qualities to become one of the leaders of the national team”, Kompany concluded.

Lot cheaper than Agger, can play in different positions, younger than Agger, and he wasnt hoping he doesnt have to sign for Spurs and can stay at Ajax.

Two Belgian defender + Lescott I would be more than happy for the next season. We will see how he plays for Spurs.

Well Mancini is risking a lot of money with Agger whose desire is a litt bit still in question, he is injury prone too. But Mancini is the one who risks and takes the consequences too.:)

MEN reporting this morning that we're still very interested in Agger but haven't actually bid higher than £14 million for him and that's our final offer, while Liverpool are holding out for the £27 million.

IF this story is true (the £14 million bid being our final offer) then I don't see any way how this is going to happen as the 2 valuations - ours and theirs - are miles apart. No way on earth would Liverpool let him go for £14 million.
