Daniel Jarque, Espanyol captain, dies

RIP Jaque

He was named as the new RCD Espanyol captain only one month ago.

Absolutely tragic, great player, would be in the Spanish side but for them being the best in the world, also a great captain. 26 is tragically young, I am shocked that someone so gifted can die so young, it's horrible, I offer my heartfelt condolensces to his family, friends and all that club, they must be absolutely broken by what's happened.

I'd hope the club can pass on our sympathies and act on behalf in offering our condolensces at this time.

What makes it worse is apparently he was on the phone to his gf when it happened, absolutely tragic.

Can we have this as a sticky for a while I don't think this deserves to be pushed to the bottom of the pile yet?

On a side note that's:

Daniel Jarque(2009) age:26
Phil O'Donnell(2007) age:35
Antonio Puerta(2007) age: 22
Serginho(2004) age: 30
Miklos Feher(2004) age: 24
Marc Vivien-Foe(2003) age: 28

who have all died from heart attacks this decade that I know of in football...

Went to watch Espanyol last year in derby match was brilliant! great shame R.I.P.

There have been more less publicised cases, im sure there have. In less 'glamorous' leagues.

Maybe those blues going to Barca can put a scalf down to show our respects.
