Daniel Jarque, Espanyol captain, dies

Not as uncommon as we may think.

insensitive bastard is all i can say to that

Hit the fucking mark though.

jesus christ man - show a little fucking dignity. a footballer dying is going to hit home with city fans for very obvious reasons.

RIP

Was shocked when i saw it on SSN before.

Something needs to be done. The lad at Benfica, Foe, Puerta, O'Donnell and even Sommeil and the lad from Leicester who both survived.

Correct me if i'm wrong but has there been a death in Italy (not including the Jarque one)? I say this because apparently every single player is screened for underlying heart conditions. I was reading about it when Puerta died. With all the money in the game, surely this needs to be brought in sooner rather than later.

Thoughts are with the players family.

Motherwell's 1991 cup-winning team has been particularly badly hit:

- Davie Cooper died of a brain haemmorhage in 1995
- Phil O'Donnell died of heart failure while playing against Dundee United in 2007
- Jamie Dolan had a heart attack while out jogging in 2008
- and only a couple of weeks ago, Paul McGrillen killed himself
