Daniel Sturridge - Premier League + FA Cup Winner!

Re: Daniel Sturridge - Premier League Winner!

An still the fairy stories "leaked" to the media get repeated as though they were fact.

He had been waiting for the continuing of the contract talks held with Sven, constantly being put off because the manager was "Busy".

He was offered a basic of 16k plus bonuses, half the contract of other academy graduates like Richards and Ireland..............Verbally agreed by Sven before he departed, and just as SP promises him if he continued to develope when he talked to him after chelski`s first approach when he was 16.

He was only offered parity after the stories came out, and had a face to face with ex staff when told where the untrue story had come from..........THAT is why he went

Both capped at international level and have played far more games for City. Both first team players lasts season, with one being our player of the year. Sturridge on the other hand was an occasional substitute. If he thinks that gives him the right to earn as much as important first team players then he's even more deluded than people make out.

On the face of it?

On the face of it he's a greedy little fucker who is content to wash his career down the pan for the sake of his bank balance not the love of the game.
If you were offered a job tomorrow doing the exact same thing as you do know, but for double the salary, would you turn it down ?

well feck him then, just shows he never had city at heart, good riddance to him i say, he showed his true colours.

Re: Daniel Sturridge - Premier League Winner!

They were both on that same standard contract given to them when moving over from Platt lane to the first team squad, as was every other graduate who played in the first team.

The only reason he wasn`t was that Sven departed before it was sorted out, he was the lowest paid player at carrington, and while letting it ride for months as the manager had just come in, he got fed up with being fobbed off as promised meeting kept getting posponed.

Re: Daniel Sturridge - Premier League Winner!

They'll sell him in the summer, to a team in the Championship!

Re: Daniel Sturridge - Premier League Winner!

I think he will go on to be a very good player, but if it was just about football and development he should have gone to a club like Everton-established premier league team with a small squd. He would have played many more games and eventually moved on to a club like chelsea as a regular first team starter.

Re: Daniel Sturridge - Premier League Winner!

I dont get why people are so bitter about this, he wouldnt get in our team at the moment and he isnt tearing up trees at chelsea but is picking up medals. He made the correct decision.
