Danilo - 2017/18 performances

I thought he was decent and progressive with the ball. You can see why PG bought him.

He made himself very small for their goal though. I would like to see him be braver than that.

Thought he was okay yesterday, but I've yet to see us put in a performance where both fullbacks are equally threatening on either side; yesterday, Mendy looked more of a threat. A few more games and they'll all be up to speed.

Wonder if he can do a job in dinhos role now walker and Mendy are fit? Has the engine and the passing range to be very good there.

I was wondering the same thing. But perhaps Pep would be reluctant to start him centrally given that we have only 3 real fullbacks (Dinho's role as fullback just doesn't seem to be working) and an injury to Danilo could prove very costly.

Wouldn't be the first time Pep played a RB in that role though, but overall I think Phillip Lahm was way more composed when he filled in that slot. Plus, not sure that kind of formation and type of play would work in the Premier League?

I'd like to see Danilo given a run out at DM vs a weak opponent or in a cup game some soon because I think he might be able to give us an added goal threat that we desperately need from our CM/DMs. I've also not been too high on Fern this year but I'm not going to harp on that because it's obvious that he's one of our weaker links and still does the thinks expected of him.

Have to say I wasn't expecting much from him after he was heavily criticised by Madrid supporters but I've been really impressed. So far he's played right back, left wing back, right sided centre back and left sided centre back and has been impressive in almost every role

and holding midfield.

Would not be surprised if we saw a Danilo-Stones-Kompany back 3 in the future.

In the second half we were flitting between 3 at the back and 4 as Danilo pushed into midfield or dropped back absolutely effortlessly, always giving us a man extra where we needed one.

Average going forward but his defensive positioning and awareness is very good. In fact I see him as a viable option as a 3rd choice cb even ahead of stones and 2nd choice dm. His versatility will prove crucial when the games start piling up
