I personally don't care about the money really. We all want the best players, therefore we will be paying the high prices. I think we all know when City are involved with transfers, whether it be in or out, we get screwed. I'd prefer to live with it, and get the players we want. It only gives the press something to woman about anyway.

Fair enough but I worry about the central defensive area and that's less likely to be addressed if we spend X amount on backups in other areas, esp. considering it's looking like the plan of getting money for the likes of Hart, Nasri, Bony, Mangala, Fernando is turning into a sad fantasy

Personally I think this would be a great buy , could be used as our holding mid player as well so for 30 mill max should be a bargain

I wouldn't say its a backup as such and the fullback position is something we have always rotated. We managed to keep 4 fullbacks happy over the last few seasons. I think thats the position we rotate the most as a club. Part of me wants to think that he might cover both LB and RB but then when I see the amount of games we have rotated those position I feel we do need quality players. I know a lot on here are on about Maffeo but he is nowhere ready to play a substantial part for us.

There's no comparison between him and Sandro, Sandro has improved every season since he was at Porto while Danilo got his big money move to Madrid and never kicked on and seemed to stagnate. A lot of folks are grasping at straws here and trying to convince themselves he's good enough. Also this notion that he can play in 3 positions? He played once for Porto in CDM role and that qualifies him to play CDM? No thanks.
Dont know what happened at Real Madrid and why he's playing so bad there; but if this rumour is true i gonna tell you what is this:
1 - When Pep gives some interview to Brazilian TVs you can see that he's like Bielsa, i mean, he knows the Brazilian players in detail, even those who are in Brazil.
2 - Danilo is a great finisher with both leg, always played as RB and MIDFIELDER/"interior" for Santos, and he was better in the middle imo.
3 - Pep probably would sign him as midfielder.

I think this is Pep wanting a fullback who can come play in midfield.

I think he will want the same at left back too.

Then you have two powerhouse overlappers in Walker and Mendy, and two underlappers so to speak who are more suited to coming into midfield and being footballers.
