I think we can definitely get along with Mendy, Walker and Danilo as fb. If Kolarov is staying he will be the LB backup with Danilo of course, and if Kolarov leaves we will get a new CB and we can play with 3 defenders. Do not see a reason to pay another 30 million on Bertrand. I only wonder who will be the new CB. Hope for Boateng!
Just imagine:
Walker/Danilo- VK- Boateng- Mendy/Danilo
Or 3 CB
VK- Boateng - Otamendi/Stones

um Danilo was basically third choice rb at Real after Carvajal and Nacho. When Carvajal went down with an injury they mostly played Nacho ahead of Danilo. 27mil for a player in a position that we just spent 45 mil on is just crazy.

Not sure which season you're referring to, but according to Whoscored Nacho had 1 appearance at right back last season.

I always had a feeling we strictly budgeted for each position this summer, in particulary at full-back, otherwise the likes of Mendy would have signed ages ago.

Looks to me like Danilo will be utilised as back up left and right back.

The Alves situation really messed up our plans by the looks of it.

Well not budgeting for an extra 30m was always going to have some sort of impact.Yep,Alves did a proper number on us.......

However, given Danilo's versatlity, and even though we are having to dig deeper,it may prove a blessing in disguise.

We should've planned this better, but instead kept the old fullbacks, signed an old Sagna, and now are scrambling for FBs.

Maybe, but given we pretty much had to wait till their extortionate contracts ran out,we had little choice to do anything earlier i suspect. As for Sagna,he was a great short term signing.

As for the 'scrambling' comment? We have just signed the best English right back and are in the process of securing one of the worlds most sought after left backs......hardly the actions of a club struggling to target players.

Said it better than I could FI.

I really don't see how he would worth 35M.

I can't see nothing special about him.
Ive not seen anything of him,but apparently he can play, effectively,in 3 positions.

Also,Real Madrid must have seen something special about him? even though it hasnt quite worked out there, the fact they targeted and purchased him is a good indicator of a players standard.

What is it you dont rate?

Yeah 2nd part was a big overreaction on my part. Just wish the business was done so he would be getting a proper pre-season with the team.

I dont think it will be a big deal,IMO,his quality and natural athleticism will see him upto speed in quick time.

Unfortunately when you're in the business of signing the most sought after and best players on the planet, time and patience is something that has to be factored.

If I'm not wrong I believe he's in LA already. So I would expect an announcement soon, given all the formalities with Real have been sorted.
