Danny Murphy's man of the match!

He sounded embarrassed as he was announcing it and then when on to do a couple of honourable mentions as if to try and balance it

Defo an editorial decision

Billing did okay first half, but went totally anonymous in the 2nd half as we ran rings round them. It didnt really bother me that they chose him. However what annoyed me most on the night was that smarmy twat sat in the bbc studio kilbane, when sat in his chair going on about how bad our defence is and how we dont have a chance of winning the champions league etc etc...the look on his face as he was making those comments

I honestly don't get all this hate, "Embarrasment" "total cock all game" "Bitter(ness)" "Laughable". I rarely give much credence to what commentators/summarisers say, much of the time because they seem to ooze hatred but i genuinely cannot identify much evidence of that in Murphy the other night, other than the spurious motm award, which a) couldnt give a toss about & b) did have at least a little bit of justification given his 1st half performance, age and who he was up against. Are we really getting this precious. Guess its a personal choice but I try to reserve my indignation for those who truely deserve it.

Tony Blair?
;-)

Sometimes I think this victim complex goes to far.

As previous posters have said Billing is a young lad who had an excellent 1st half. It will mean a lot to him. I'm sure Kun couldn't care less!

Nothing Anti-City about Murphys decision. Just giving it to a lad who stood out (in his old position) for a poor side.

Swap City for Liverpool and he wouldn't have chosen a player from the loosing team

And had MANUre just dispatched a Championship side, or any side 5-1, there would have been fourteen players in front of the opposition best man. Indeed, I expect that half the crowd would have got it down the Swamp before an oppo player was awarded it.

A few mates went on an all inclusive piss up at Ashton United a few years ago in the one and only box they have. By the time the game had finished they were all completely bladdered. Ashton's Chairman went into the Box to ask them for the MOM, they looked at the team walking off and picked a random player. Turned out he was the sub who had been on for 10 minutes and done fuck all. As they had paid £40 each their choice was final and the player got his MOM award much to the disgust of the Club, they have never been back!!

On its own the MOM award to him isn't that important but in the context of everything else its significant.
