Daunte Wright Killed by Minnesota Officer Following Traffic Stop

Maybe, I haven't checked, but it looks like this bloke wasn't exactly a model citizen, but a violent armed robber, amongst other things.
Again, if true, but printing lies in a newspaper is an offence, so I wouldn't bet against it.

Your first 2 comments on this thread were the linking some story from the odious Daily Mail, and the above post.

Both very much attempting to paint the 20 year old unlawfully shot dead in a negative light, using shit that has no real relevance to anything.

Ancient Citizen in more ways than one.

He’s also not explained what he was searching google for given the link he posted is from google rather than direct from the Mail.

Just seems a bit weird to immediately attempt to impeach the character of a 20 year that’s just been unlawfully killed.

It’s a good job they don’t print the names of rape victims these days as rags like the Mail would again be running exclusives of how promiscuous the lady had been in the past when such things are irrelevant to the case.
I don't know, after reading it again it seems there has been a lot of speculation about him not knowing there was a warrant, and so they print this.
The Rag bit I couldn't agree more with.

The 2 bolded points aren't factual. There was nothing about it that was confusing. And it's not clear fright was the motivating factor. Could be but it's not clear.

Good writeup. But I'd edit the noted above to remove all opinion and stay strictly factual. Not that I'm your editor or anything :)

I think fear was a big factor.

His outstanding warrants were for $450, you don't flee from police over 450 bucks outstanding court costs.

I think everyone is fearful of police stops in the USA because we so frequently hear about them ending horrifically, and that must be multiplied 1000x if you're a 20 year old black kid in Minneapolis - the Chauvin trial is happening a few blocks away.

He'd not done anything really wrong, he wasn't facing serious charges - running doesn't make sense, and usually when people are acting irrationally fear is playing a big part.

Consider the fact he called his mum when he was being pulled over as well. That's a kid looking for help because he's scared.

Yes I did, I went to google after seeing the new thread, I explained that.
What the fuck does it matter anyway?

That just makes it all the more tragic

I merely quoted from an article that printed facts about the person in question, apparently, as I said before, in response to speculation about
warrants, I won't repeat this. I know you don't like them, but that's not my fault.

Muscle memory/instinct kicks in.

For example, I've often walked up to my locked apartment door and drew my car key/garage door opener-set combination - and clicked on my garage door opener to open my locked apartment door - ridiculous - how on earth could I make such a mistake?!?

My garage door opener button is nothing at all like the key necessary to open my apartment door?

So why did I make such a mistake?
===
Muscle memory.
===
And if I make such a mistake, trying to open my appartment door...

Then why, isn't it at all possible that an officer, under stress, could mistake his or her gun for a taser - leading to the death of another individual?

Was this act intentional - especially after the officer involved (a 20+ year veteran with, so far as I'm aware - having no record of racial bias) and, having exclaimed, "Taser, Taser Taser!" - I don't get why you fail to think that the officer involved thought that she held her taser in hand - as opposed to her gun. And if you think that the officer thought that she held her taser, why you think that this event rises to the level of voluntary manslaughter.
Jesus, how many people has she shot if she's got it down to muscle memory? Not to mention here muscle memory somehow doesn't remember which hip her gun is on and which her taser is on, or notice the completely different weight and shape of a taser to a handgun. At best, she's utterly incompetent and not mentally fit to be in that situation, as it's a mistake that just can't happen. (and frankly, doesn't happen)

As to your garage key analogy, the main reason you do that is that you aren't really paying much attention, not that it's muscle memory. You are doing things on autopilot and when you do that, mistakes happen, but you don't really care because nothing is at stake. I really can't imagine she's on autopilot in that situation tbh
