Yes, he felt the job was was a poisoned chalice, could never succeed given the state we were inDid we ever find out the real reason why Coppell jumped ship so soon?
I think it was before that. But I’m old as fuck so maybe I’m wrong. I just remember the headline whilst he was banned. I think pre Horton.Blatantly used us to get the Leeds job
Well he did know FA about management as the tagline suggested.Read it as Mike Bassett, thinking this was purely a parody thread.
Signing a number of ageing players in 2003 didnt seem like long term squad building. Promotion season under KK was great though. We needed someone to actually build a squad with a view to the long term, including development of the academy.
Typical City decided to appoint someone with a reputation for running off crying when anyone criticised him, and leaving a half-finished job behind him.
It may have been fun while it lasted with Keegan, but it was never going to last long. I wouldn't have touched him with a bargepole for the City job. Moyes was infinitely more suited to the 'project'.
So he didn’t have AIDS then ?Yes, he felt the job was was a poisoned chalice, could never succeed given the state we were in

Long term? That was never what supporting city was about. That Keegan season is right up there with my favourites of all time. It typifies what football is about and that is hope and dreams. If you’d prefer that sterile bollocks of Moyes to what we had then you don’t really love sport for what it is.David Moyes would have been a far better long term choice for City than Keegan.
