Dave Watson has neurodegenerative disease

One of my all-time favourite City players from that era. His bullet header against Ipswich in '77 is still the best headed goal that I have ever seen. (Apologies if the below was previously posted.)
I sincerely hope that he gets the support that is needed at this time.

Shame it didn't get G,O.T.S..
Salah 1st
Sane,2nd..
I was just on the halfway line in the kippax,
And you just new it was going in..like a Bullet.

Saw him playing for England at Wembley. against Scotland. He headed the ball so hard in his own area that it carried all the way into their half and Kevin Keegan scuttled after it to score
Chatted to him at Chelsea after a Ron Futcher hat trick helped us to a 4-1 win. It was no surprise to see that his neck was the same circumference as his head. Tough as nails and a real leader by example.
Get your finger out Taylor you useless get.

Mike, Would fancy doing a short video of those memories as it's just the sort thing they are enjoying hearing at the moment.

Message if you do, Cheers

Was a good listen. Penny made a point at the end of the interview to say thanks to City fans that have sent video messages to Dave. Mark McCarthy was instrumental in getting these recorded and sent to Dave- well played Mark!

I'm still collecting the video message in if anyone would like to contribute one then please feel free to direct message me.

I have to ask, what to the PFA even do these days? I don't think I can recall a time in recent memory when the PFA were said to be helpful, other than making token statements here and there on things like race issues.

I also, especially with players stating they're been run into the ground with fixtures mixed with injuries.
Not a thing from them.so much for looking after your members.
As you said token bites,

First came to my notice during the Sunderland vs Leeds Cup final. He was immense. We signed 3 of that team . Watson and Tueart were great for Sunderland and superb for us. Dave Watson went on to be a great player for all his clubs and country . Real shame to hear the names that he is suffering from Dementia, i wish him well

I can remember that Ron futcher hatrick, iirc Channon got the other ?
To say i was surprised at the win is putting it mildly, prob RFs greatest game for City.think he was a better header of a ball than kicking it.

Watson playing fo England was a commanding figure,i always thought he and liverpools Phil thompson was the best centre back partnership.
Interesting that DW started out as a centre forward at Notts county, back in the early 70s/ late 60s.
