Dave Watson has neurodegenerative disease

Sad article here about how Dave and his wife aren’t getting the support they need from the PFA:
That's unbelievably sad, reading that. I have no doubts that there are good people working for the PFA. But, as an entity, it's a joke.

Taylor is a complete wanker and probably has more than enough money in his own account to help Big Dave out.Instead he`s become the highest paid equivalent of a Trades Union highjacker.
The Donald Trump of football.
Very true. Gordon Taylor earns £2,000,000 a year, and will of been chief executive of the PFA for 40 years next year. He is another horrible greedy twat within in football on the gravy train.
Dave Watson was a fantastic centre half for City, and England. He was also a true gent, and its very sad to hear he has this horrible illness.
Why would the PFA not offer financial help for a former player who paid his dues all through his career?
How much money do the PFA have stashed away in the banks?

One of my heroes growing up. Whilst I get great pleasure from watching our fantastic players of today, men like him will always mean the most to me as a City fan of over 50 years. I still have a soft spot for Sunderland because of him and Dennis!
You got it right there homer-MEN like him.
Proper blokes in those days

I have just watched Chris Sutton on BT Sport talking about this and similar diseases, and how so much more needs to be done to try and prevent it or help with the fallout.
Despite being very emotional while delivering his plea,as its clearly a very personal issue for him,he did brilliantly to stick with it and get his words across - credit where its due.

It really is! Taylor is a muppet, been there too long, and the organisation is probably run like an out of date entity.

But where are City and his other clubs in this n’all?

Currently I do some voluntary work with people with Neurological conditions, so sad and alarming watching the deterioration.
Loved Dave Watson, tough no nonsense centre back and as people on here have said, imagine him and Kompany at the back together!
Part of a very decent mid/late 70s City team (before it all started going a bit pear shaped!) Fav picture has to be of him holding the League Cup in his blood splattered shirt.
Had the pleasure of meeting him once when I was about 9, he seemed a genuinely decent bloke and actually thanked me for asking him for his autograph!!

I'll never forget that image of him doing the lap of honour at Wembley in 1976, blood stained shirt and Rocky-esque eyes. Made of steel in them days

I remember an England game when I was maybe 8 or 9 when he headed a ball from just outside the area and the opposition keeper caught it. Still the most powerful header I have ever seen.

Great defender and one of my favourite ever City players.
He and Dennis Tueart were once ahead of me in the queue at an ice cream van at Dunham Massey (way back on their playing days).

One of my all-time favourite City players from that era. His bullet header against Ipswich in '77 is still the best headed goal that I have ever seen. (Apologies if the below was previously posted.)
I sincerely hope that he gets the support that is needed at this time.

i was there that day still the best bullet header ive ever seen, loved that team
