Dave Watson has neurodegenerative disease

Very sad news. I can't read the article as it's behind a paywall, but I saw the headline, and yes, he headed the ball a lot. Nothing got past him on that front.

He is without doubt one of the best players this club has ever had. His name isn't often mentioned, but he would walk into this current side, such was his dominance in midfield, particularly in the air.

I don't know what else I can say, other than he was a favourite of mine at the time he played for us, and one of the true greats that played for us years ago.

I don’t want to sound like I’m disrespecting Dave Watson’s condition or any other sufferer as that is not my intention.
He was my hero growing up.
But Pep must have had a big impact with reducing this awful disease by playing the game on the floor. Being copied at every level.
Obviously not Peps intention but a very good bi product of his playing style
it must have some kind of positive impact

So sad, dementia is a horrible, horrible disease, feel so much for him and his family and friends, hope they stay strong.

One of our greatest CB and leaders, a warrior.
100% this. My father-in-law has had 10 years of this, and we've recently had to place him in a care home. Just awful to see the person slowly disappear in front of your eyes.

As Cloughie once said -
If God had wanted us to play football in the clouds, he'd of put grass up there !!
