David Bernstein Q&A for KOTK

Given it was the cause of his big falling out, what were his thoughts on Robbie Fowler's body shape and lack of ability/desire to alter it when he turned up?

And then Fowler's comments about 'going to really start training hard now' when he left for Liverpool?

Did he consider Fowler unable to get fit (based on medicals, etc) or unwilling?

Our former chairman turned 80 four weeks ago and has kindly agreed to do a Q&A for King of the Kippax. Me and Dave are putting a few questions together for him but has anyone on here got anything they want to ask? I very much doubt he's going to slag anyone off but if anyone has any insightful questions then we'll include them if we can.

Probably not very "exclusive" this, but I'd love to hear about how he went from fan to Director to Chairman. Was it an ambition or did he fall into it? How did he feel taking the club on his own shoulders? How did his time at City help him judge the "reality" of football for the masses when he took over the FA?

Just stuff like that, some personal memories of his great City memories as a fan and how he squared that elation of being a fan with the reality of being a Chairman of a struggling business. Was he ever tempted to "go large" or was he trying to be a conservative custodian and how do these two opposites affect his decisions as the fan/Chairman? He was going for years, surely he must have had some friends in his ear to risk the financial future of the club past just Robbie Fowler?

Would love to hear his true thoughts on Ferguson putting out half a reserve team and rolling over for Jim Smith’s Derby at the shithole, a result that pretty much doomed us to relegation?
The two old crooks laughing and hugging at full time
DB later diplomatically said ‘it all looked very friendly’ when asked about it on 5 Live. Even the BBC knew it was a carve up

I am curious to know if Bernstein and Joe Royle were ever reconciled following on from what happened with Royles sacking.

Always thought it was a shame them falling out after what they did for the club regardless of who was right or wrong.

(Appreciate he may not want to discuss this or it’s deemed too an obscure question to ask).
I would be keen to hear an answer for this one as well. I remember that Royle sued City and, according to the Manchester Evening News, City were represented by David Pannick QC, and lost the case. https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...-news/city-fight-500000-payout-to-joe-1058291

Why didnt he give me the job in Higham Ferrers when we chatted about City rather than doing a job interview!

Bizarre day turning up for a job interview in Northants and it turning out City's old chairman was the one interviewing me!
