David Bernstein Q&A for KOTK

Can he shed any light on why Matias Vuoso never played for City?
I can, he was fucking shite! Seriously though, didn't Keegan hound him to buy him on seeing videos of Vuoso ? 4 million I believe. Still can't fathom that one out 20 years later.

I would be keen to hear an answer for this one as well. I remember that Royle sued City and, according to the Manchester Evening News, City were represented by David Pannick QC, and lost the case. https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...-news/city-fight-500000-payout-to-joe-1058291

City appealed that ruling and won. Royle then tried a further appeal to the House of Lords and failed, so he ended up having to repay City the extra money he'd originally been awarded.

Does he think there is an agenda against City or are we all neurotic.

Does he agree with Gobby Simon Jordon that City are a Frankenstein Club.

There’s definitely some truth in that. I believe that if Sergio hadn’t scored Pep would have become manager in 2012. What I don’t know is why he took the Bayern job in 2013. Maybe he got fed up of waiting because on that cup final day it was already an open secret that Pellegrini was next. Pellegrini already knew that Pep was following him.

My guess on Pep taking Bayern is that he wanted to see how FPP played out.
I don't know for sure so am guessing to a large degree but I agree with you that we probably had Pep lined up in 2012. We knew even then that there was going to be big trouble with Mancini, as he'd already sidelined Brian Marwood & made it clear he wouldn't work with the incoming Txiki Begiristain.

According to the Der Spiegel articles, Garry Cook was already quite exasperated with his financial demands and Cook left us in September 2011, so we knew there was trouble brewing. I suspect that him winning the title put us in an awkward position but he'd at least threatened to leave then or, if one reliable report I heard is true, actually handed in his notice.

Whatever, we blinked first and offered him a new contract but this one limited his payout on termination to 2 years. I suspect that left Pep high and dry and he had to take a 12-month sabbatical before joining Bayern.

Look at the sub-heading here:

He probably was pants, but why spend 3.5m on someone? Makes you wonder whether Kevin Keegan wanted to sign him based on watching a video. Some of the signings during the latter part of KK's tenure were really bad. He wasted a lot of money in my view.
