David Platt

Im all for platt, like someone said before if you think all of our players and staff are city fans then youre very sadly deluded. Wasnt nicky butt a blue? never stopped him doing a job for the scum. Thats of course if platt is a rag???

as for his media coments- well how many of them have said rubbish about city? seems like noone has a good word to say about us atm, so he isnt alone.

There is a more in depth interview with him on the site today. Very good watch.

What he feels about City now he is part of the club, I cannot say, but remember clearly that back in his days playing at Chadderton FC, along with my Bro-In-Law, he was a rag through and through.....as was team mate John Pemberton too....used to slate City all the time, in that typical arrogant rag way. Used to always ask him why he didn't support his local team seeing he was a Biffo....

And on a side note, I remember Pemby, at the time playing for Sheff U, saying in the pub to my old man, he was so looking forward to banging one in against City in the upcoming game......true to his word, the rag twunt did.....flying header, straight in his own net......nearly choked on my beer.....and my old man gave him no end of grief next time we saw him. : )

Can anyone provide direct quotes or, even better, a video where Platt slags City off?
I recall many an occasion on sky sports where his contribution regarding city would be just above the mollusc that is Merson
No I haven't the YouTube videos available to post but my brain isn't that addled that I have forgotten his previous sourness

However we are part way through a whole new journey here so he gets the benefit of the doubt, like any other employee of city

Spot on. Everyone has a past, Time to move on as he is now with us

no i obviously didnt, i was too busy jumping about like a madman to look and see what fat platt was doing, sorry.
Then download the game and watch again. You'll see that he was close to tears at the final whistle.

Isn't Platt a City fan?

He's a red through and through!!!

He's also a prick.

Speaking as somebody who knows him and played at the same amateur club as him... he's actually an Oldham Fan.

-- Sat Sep 03, 2011 9:14 am --

Good friend of mine also... played in same amateur team as him as well... Great centre forward, before he turned pro. Saw him at a funeral recently.

As a kid, he (John)was a red, but as a kid, Platt was latics!!! Definitely!

The latest interview refers to him as 'Roberto's number two'. Does that mean Kidd has moved down the order as I'm sure he was the number two when Mancini first arrived?

The way I understand it, Kidd is assistent maneger whilst Platt is first team coach.

I don't hate the guy but I'm not a fan. It's irrelevant what I think of him as long as the team is progressing and playing well there's no problems. I do however find him very boring to listen to, even if what he's saying is spot on his voice sends me to sleep. From what I've seen of Hargreaves he's a big dull dullard too. Again this is irrelevant as long as he does well for the team. Don't think I'll be watching any more interviews with them is all ;)

Fa cup winners,in the champions league, joint top of the premier league and playing some of the best football seen since the Mercer Allison era.Yet...still some blues want to pick holes, faults and arguments where none exist.....unbelievable!

David Platt, whatever his past,is now firmly in OUR camp and wants nothing but success for OUR club and him,Roberto and Kiddo aren't doing too bad a job of it in my humble opinion.

As one who has watched some unbelievable shite in my 44 years of supporting City i have to pinch myself i am not dreaming these days,i really do!

I myself have called them shite on more than one occasion because they were!I have thrown my scarf on the floor[i'll crush a grape next] sang ''What the fuck is going on?'' along with 35000 other miserable fed up sods and swore i would never go again....but i did.It didn't make me love them any less, hurt yes,but i never stopped loving them.

Now as a pundit i am sure David Platt probably slagged us off once or twice and as a pundit,if the whole world could see we were shite, what else was he to say? ''Actually i thought they weren't too bad?'' Get real!

As for his time at Forest wasn't he a rookie coach given a chance when the manager resigned? [ I may be wrong on that one] I think he was pushed in before he was ready a bit like psycho was for us.

So can the whining moaners give him a break or fuck off????

David Platt is one of the most respected coaches in the English game, before he even came to City. He has been a consistent voice in removing archaic 'traditions' in English football coaching and has wrote numerous books/performed numerous lectures/designed numerous training regimes backing up his opinion to great success.

I am not in any way anti Platt but is the above true?

His wikepedia entry mentions no books authored and in terms of writing only mentions a regular column in 442 hardly the forefront of intellectual thought about the game.

Where untill he came to City has he achieved great success as a coach or been hired as a coach for a leading club based on respect for his coaching?

He comes over well on the city tv and we are currently playing well and I hope we continue to do so but prior to his arrival although clearly an articulate man what solid evidence of coaching prowess is there?

It looks like my reply to you was deleted, must have been a bit strong,so i'll edit it slightly!

When you slag off someone doing his best for our club you do damage to the club you claim to support. It has long been mooted there is a fifth column working inside City who it appears do everything to undo all the good work being done and like it or not 'fans' like you come into that catagory.

If you had a valid argument, like we were playing crap football, bottom of the league,Platt was disruptive then you may have a point. We have, however, just had the most succesful season in THIRTY FIVE years! We are playing superb football the likes of which i never thought i would see a City side play again in my lifetime.Like it or lump it,Platt is part of the managerial team responsible for that.

To say you don't like him because he is a ''Red t***'' is frankly a pathetic bigoted childish statement and yes i wish blues like you would go away and take your infantile views with you.

Polite enough Mr editor?

Well If we're playing that game.
Cant the whining moaners telling the tossers that are telling other blues fuck off, to fuck off, fuck off?
Idk, is that right?
So what if he said some things? You people are so sensitive. Quit acting like little girls and to all you little girls, quit acting like the whining moaners who still complain about people who are helping to better their team.

It's the BM way. Come back here when we've lost a game; it really is a sight to behold!

I agree with you. But you can't argue with some people who doesn't understand logic. Some are just stupid.
