David Platt

at last someone without a blinkered 'i must love everything about city if it kills me' view.
Nobody thinks ''I must love everything about City'' or has that mindset. There are players and people at the club wind me up,Tevez for one with his slagging off of the City i call home and his constant self pitying bleating. However i recognise that he is a top quality player and when he pulls on the blue shirt he gives 100%.So he gets my full support but i don't particularly like his behaviour.

Platt is doing a first class job for City as proven by results. He may have not been particularly kind about City in his comments in the past, but he is making sure by shaping our results in the future that the chance of us being slagged off for our performances and results are diminishing at a rapid rate.

So why not give him a chance, show him how great our club and fans are,how we are so special that many players keep in touch and retain an affection for the club long after they leave?

Calling someone insulting childish names and showing a mean spirited lack of forgiveness for parts of his past is hardly likely to endure him to our future. We are Blues not rags and should be above this.

good post mate.

good post mate.
I try mate but it is hard to keep my patience sometimes, indeed i did bang away on the old keyboard in anger at first and my post was rightly deleted by the editor.

In fairness the sort of ''Rag twat'' post i might have made myself 20 years ago,i hope not but i may have.

Schmeichel and Cole are two players i first thought this when they signed for us.No two players wound me up more when they played for the dark side, firstly because they were so good, secondly because they had that arrogance all great players have. Then i realised if it wound me up the rags must hate two such iconic players signing for us.Plus even at the end of their careers they were half decent players and still did a decent job for us.

Schmeichel seemed to love us more when here and both players advised their sons to sign for us,Cole's still being here, indeed he came on as a sub the other night and scored.

Now if Platt was unkind about City before he came here you don't have to let him off the hook.By all means if he comes to meetings ask him why he did it and his reasons. But at the end of the day he IS here and doing his best to make us the most succesful team in the world,so give him a break eh?

Age...it mellows you for sure,lol!

Anybody else notice that he seems to play a bigger part in assisting Mancini than Kidd does?

It's always Platt going through tactics/ instructions to subs before they come on
Platt sometimes does the post match interviews
Platt goes to watch other games with Mancini

Just an observation

That's because he is the assistant manager in all but name. PR, tactics, transfers - its Platt that Roberto turns to, not Kidd. And I think that's right as Kidds talent is coaching, not the management side of things.

Platt's there to get Mancini's message across, an enforcer if you may.

Kiddo's there to ensure they don't fall off the wagon, a friend to all.

A diverse team like ours need all sorts of coaches, especially those that can get the best out of players.

Of course...

Everyone bar cunts who chat utter shit about City and then jump on the chance of a nice wage from us.

I wouldnt mind you finding me the articles and clips were he slagged us off, i'm guessing i'll be waiting a while mind.
Don't be so fast to judge. I have heard, and seen, Platt slating our club, to the point that I wanted to tear his moustache off, but I haven't been able to find it through media sources. He was an absolute arse but now that he's on the team, although his words are not forgotten, he's tolerated.

You raise a very good point with the Tévez comparison, Mr Chapo, and one I mused over myself, last night! I do believe some of the very posters chastising Mr Platt are the very same ones who implore the unhappy fans of Tévez to 'support him' as he is 'world class' on pitch and that's all that matters.

What's the difference with Mr Platt, then??!

I, too, have heard him pull apart our club, in the past, almost gleefully.

However, that was the past and when he talks football I find him engaging, interesting, clear and concise and a willingness to showcase his intellect on subjects.

I can take that on a professional level.
