David Silva - 2016/17 performances

Silva isn't the issue per say, but Silva and De Bruyne seem to get in eachother's way and statistically this season De Bruyne's been noticeably better than Silva.
 
There is room for both Silva and De Bruyne in the team. As it has been mentioned earlier creativity isn't the problem. Profligacy is.

If you read my post again, i very clearly give a reason as to why we are not seeing the best of Dave so not too sure how im picking on him mate?

And if you read my post mate, I said you were picking on the part of the team that has been producing, not that you were picking on any individual. My point was more the problems have, have been mostly with stopping goals because of abject defending and not finishing chances, rather than creating.

As bad as the defence is right now, our flair players and strikers have let us down in equal amounts imo and that includes them all.

With players of the quality of Dave, Kevin et al, i expect goals from them as well and it just isnt happening because its always the easy sideways option far too many times with little or no intent on shooting/scoring.

That aside, i stick by my opinion and that is Kevin is the man to play centrally and if he does, we will see just how good he is and he is Davids natural replacement going forwards.

Form aside, he is getting no younger and nothing lasts forever no matter how glorious its been.

KDB can play the number 10 role or the more advanced of the central midfielders for sure, I am not saying he shouldnt, Silva hasnt really played there this season at all, he's been deeper, pulling the strings, those 2 with Dinho I see that as our best 3 in the middle of the park, the issues have come more when Silkay has been played as well, which has forced one of Silva or KDB wider. I dont see the issue as being Silva or KDB unless you insist that Gundogan has to play.

Fair enough, I see Silva at 30 years old to be very far from finished, it isnt old for a modern footballer, especially one that doesnt rely on pace and seemingly looks after himself, a bit like the ginger pig who didnt rely on pace, looked after himself and went on and on. He's younger than the Ballon D'or winner for example and Ronaldo relies on his physicality a lot more.
 
This going to sound completely daft but there are similarities between Silva and Iniesta(a player who Guardiola had some influence on at Barcelona).

I'v felt sorry for Dave in recent weeks...his ball retention and vision is still there but the movement in the system at the moment is non existent.

I would like to see us go back to the 4-3-3 with KDB and Silva as 8s. If Gundogan has to play, play him at 6 and move Fernandinho to RB. (My preference would be to just keep Dinho at 6).
 
So I see Silva has more forward passes than any other player in the Premier League. But yet @Jack74 and the other band of merry men cry from the rooftops that he only passes sideways and slows us down.

They're like a bunch of Macedonian computer nerds spreading fake news! Check your facts lads, before you start demanding for a wall to be built.
