I can hardly believe how lucky we have been to have been able to witness such a fantastic exponent of the beautiful game at close quarters for the last 6 1/2 seasons.

Dave's doing the things I've criticised him for not doing previously. Taking men on, being incisive and looking for the goal. Brilliant so far.

I'm not sure I ever predicted his demise. My frustration was that he didn't seem willing to take the extra step that would mark him out as one of the game's greats. Tonight he was utterly devastating and my argument was that he should be doing that in the majority of games.
