Not sure who was more shocked DS wasn't in the team yesterday me who drove down to watch him play or DS himself.

Been told he can't play 3 games in 7 days now.

Fantastic win and so pleased for Ilkay & Mahrez though. Confidence is everything or nearly everything in football. They will be buoyed by their goals.

Think he looked a bit jaded on Wednesday so no problem with him putting his feet up yesterday. It's going to be a long season and we need him at the business end

We need him fit. Needs a rest and not to be injured by the likes of Cardiff.

I think its very clear Pep is using his older players sparingly at this stage. I think Dave was in the best place he could have been yesterday afternoon.

He needs to start doing the same for Fernandinho, somehow.

Wednesday one imagines he will get a rest with a few big games in the near horizon.

I would imagine the back room staff have mapped out their strategy already, with only injuries and a significant dip in form changing anything. We definitely have targeted games, with the UCL and Liverpool within 4 days being the most pressing of those. Win those two games and our season is “back in track,” if one bad result in the CL, an away draw in the PL, 2nd place and best GD is considered a “bad start!”

I’m loving all the attention on Liverpool and Chelsea, because everyone (deep down) thinks City will fail to repeat and Liverpool are the best team in the League. Heck, even Klopp is already trying to take the pressure off them!

There is a long way to go and the qualities of David Silva, Fernandinho, KDB, Aguero, etc... will be tested over such a long and competitive season. However, they have the pedigree and muscle memory to know how this can play out if they play smart. Pep does, too!

Also, like others, I hope for (expect!) further support for rotation in January and/or Summer to further extend their playing careers at the top level.

So bluwhit or anyone else your thoughts on below would be appreciated.

Assuming Silva is rested in the LC, Pep will probably want him to start against Hoffenheim and Liverpool, meaning that he may sit out the Brighton game?
