David Silva - 2018/19 Performances

He’s undoubtedly been off the boil recently by his last few games before yesterday saw a noticeable improvement.

You have to remember players like silva can’t create something if there’s nobody doing the things off the ball he needs to create a chance.

When sterling and sane played for the first time in ages against schalke, silva looked a lot better. why? Because we had two willing runners on either flank willing to get in behind the defence who know when to go out wide to create space and when to run behind, when we’ve only got one of those on the pitch we become predictable, opposition know we’re going to play down that one wing to get in behind and they can shift over leaving gaps on the other side and that closes the holes silva plays in.

He will get a good rest now to recharge and if we see more of the sane sterling aguero front three that works best for us, I’m positive we will see an upturn in performances from david too
 
That’s good news bluwhit
......up until the Liverpool match in Jan, he was up with his namesake for player of the year.
Class is permanent as the saying goes.

For 80 odd minutes playing against Leicester when we lost 3-1 at home he was as bad as I’ve ever seen.

He’s a fucking maestro of a player, but it’s a fallacy to suggest he never plays badly n

Spot on. Ferny actually had 3 or 4 average games in a row after the World Cup and people thought it was a decline due to age, being overplayed etc. He came storming back and I’d back David to do likewise.

It was noticeable that his performance and influence did pick up in the last half hour of the match.
 
With Fernandinho, Laporte, Silva, De Bruyne and Aguero injured or not called up/retired and Ederson unlikely to play it is a huge benefit for our squad this break.

That Fulham game, an early kick off we need to be hot on it. Those players gettihg a rest is great. Plus Stones hopefully too. Sane and Mahrez hopefully can get some form and more time for Mendy to maybe recover?!

Silva hasn't been his usual self and this break will hopefully see him good for the hard push to May with a lot of big games. Every league game a must win plus a big CL QF and FA Cup semi. No respite at all now.

Delph was withdrawn too so he gets some much needed rest.....
 
He's in his own warm weather training camp in Dubai !

He was terrific today IMO, just lacked a goal.
A couple of years ago he was as good as any player out there at what he does but he's now just that bit down on that.
Still an asset to us, though, and well worth his place in the squad.

I would rather have him than not when he is fit,he is the most experienced one out there usually,that's invaluable in a young team
