Re: David Silva

MANCHESTER CITY will test Valencia's resolve to hang on to Spain winger David Silva this summer.

Valencia have already sold one prized asset in David Villa and are determined to keep hold of their other star man during the close season.

But City boss Roberto Mancini has put the 24-year-old flyer on his wanted list and would be willing to break the bank for the £30million-rated star.

However, the Eastlands club are not prepared to be held to ransom by Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg over Bosnian hitman Edin Dzeko.

Dzeko, 24, has a clause in his contract which would allow him to leave for £35m - but it only runs until the end of the month.

That means the Germans are trying to drum up interest in their striker in order to cash in on him before midnight on Monday.

But while City are keeping tabs on him, they are unwilling to smash the British transfer record to sign him and are ready to bide their time.

McClaren may be tempted to do business later in the summer as he is a fan of his former England defender Micah Richards, who could be part of a deal.

If City pursue their interest in Silva it would be a major coup as bitter rivals United are also keen. But the lack of Champions League football at Eastlands next year could be a stumbling block.

still the most unrealistic target we've been linked with, IMO.

Re: David Silva

Silva would be a great signing and send a message out to the world, another option I would seriously be weighing up would be Joe Cole to be our midfield playmaker, he was a central player at West Ham he just hasn't been given that chance at Chelsea but I believe its his best position, would cost nothing other than big wages but he is onlt about 28...... worth a dabble to me

has played more than 300 games for them lol.

Re: David Silva

I would be willing to bring both silva and banega for them to play as attacking mid and central mid alongside de jong so we could control the tempo of the game a lot better but if we are going to buy dzeko then i guess only 1 of them would be needed and i am sorry i have never seen silva play in a 2 man midfield whereas banega does all the time and he is actually a better central mid than him.

Re: David Silva

Real, Rags, Chelsea have all shown an interst in SIlva. Love to see him at city but it never going to happen even with Champions league football.

They have already sold Villa so they wont want him to go as well. As will villa if he does go he will stay in spain end up at Real eventually.

Re: David Silva

Could be off to Real soon

Mourinho approving the signing of Silva, further suggesting he hasn't got complete control. If it's us and Silva in the race I'm afraid to say there's only one winner. This does leave the Di Maria option open for us mind.

EDIT: The Mail gives us this, saying Silva is our top target.

Re: David Silva

My view is that Madrid want Silva as they want a compliment of Spanish players. Kaka may well be surplus to requirements.

And Kaka would be a decent buy for us.

Re: David Silva

Silva is an awesome player, from what I seen of him in that game against Werder Bremen (I think), he had a hand in 3 of the 4 goals.
He played in a more central/playmaker role with Mata on the left, he was unplayable..... he is a must buy!!

Re: David Silva

Kaka no way dont want him at all. He has been a huge flop at real, The Italian league overall is very uncompetetive (Bar Inter who had Morinho) and it shows when players have gone to spain they get found out big time.

Brazilian flair players just dont work in the prem either. Look at what happened with Robinho. They cant play in the prem, cant stand our style of football, weather, culture, country as a whole.

Would be a total distater. Rather we went back to the Milners and Artetas of the world than make silly marque flop signings like Robinho that destabalise the squad.

I am not worried I dont think the owners will be stupid enough to sign any more brazilians after what happened with Robinho and Jo. We could end up losing £50 million on those 2 players.
