Re: David Silva
still the most unrealistic target we've been linked with, IMO.
MANCHESTER CITY will test Valencia's resolve to hang on to Spain winger David Silva this summer.
Valencia have already sold one prized asset in David Villa and are determined to keep hold of their other star man during the close season.
But City boss Roberto Mancini has put the 24-year-old flyer on his wanted list and would be willing to break the bank for the £30million-rated star.
However, the Eastlands club are not prepared to be held to ransom by Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg over Bosnian hitman Edin Dzeko.
Dzeko, 24, has a clause in his contract which would allow him to leave for £35m - but it only runs until the end of the month.
That means the Germans are trying to drum up interest in their striker in order to cash in on him before midnight on Monday.
But while City are keeping tabs on him, they are unwilling to smash the British transfer record to sign him and are ready to bide their time.
McClaren may be tempted to do business later in the summer as he is a fan of his former England defender Micah Richards, who could be part of a deal.
If City pursue their interest in Silva it would be a major coup as bitter rivals United are also keen. But the lack of Champions League football at Eastlands next year could be a stumbling block.
