Not just one of spains greatest midfielders.19 years as a professional footballer he has earned the choice to hang up his boots , one of the great Spanish midfield players of all time alongside the likes of Iniesta , Xavi and Busquets , the difference is Merlin proved himself outside of La Liga.
Hope he enjoys his retirement in Gran Canaria , we were fortunate to be able to watch this guy on a weekly basis in my opinion alongside Colin Bell as our greatest midfield player.
Do you think he’s going to lie on a sun lounger for the next 60years?Why when he can retire in the country he loves, in the sun , he is not coming back here imo
was lucky enought to watch both players , totally different players but the same influence on the team , Bell was a box to box player who could do everything , pass , tackle ,defend , score goals , create goals and was a constant 8/10 player every game.View attachment 88225
Dr Jon Bell just put this on Twitter. His dad's favourite player.
For the majority of our fans, these 2 legends are the best 2 to ever wear the blue shirt. May Colin the King continue to rest in peace, and David have all the success in the world in his next venture.
They have both set the bar very high. Can only be envious of those senior enough to have seen Bell in his prime, and I know young and future blues will feel the same about David.
