David Silva Testimonial

I think inviting them to the Liverpool game/last game of the season would be good. It would show the clubs appreciation while inviting fans to show their gratitude before a big game. Invite the charity of their choice to send staff with buckets for cash or card readers for donations before the game then have Silva/Aguero or both present a cheque to the charity for the amount after the game.

Many never forgave the club for not giving Neil Young a testimonial.
David and Kun are multi multi millionaires and the reason why they haven't been given one is obvious - both players know how much they are adored and always will be.
Absolutely understand where you're coming from Screamer but, these days, testimonials are less about the old 70's cliché of supplementing a player's income before they buy a pub and more about raising a shed load of money for various worthy charities.

Silva 11 vs Aguero 11 would be a great pre season event...
I asked this question awhile ago on twitter. Must be players they have played with and minimum 3 City players on each side.

Some of the line-ups were insane.

Well there’s some miserable wankers on this thread.

I went to Vinny’s and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s not about the spectacle of the game, it’s about waving off a generational club legend and seeing a few old faces.

I was hoping the club would get Mancini to manage the city legends 11 but no, they really were that petty not to…
I flew 3 1/2 thousand miles to go to that game. Met some great people and waved off Vinnie.
I'll be back for Dave's if I'm able.

I went to the Kompany testamonial. It was my first and only testimonial match and it was the most boring thing ever.

I love David Silva - got a huge framed picture of him on my front room wall - but I've got very little interest in going to this. Not that he shouldn't have one, give the man anything he wants - but dear lord the last one was boring as fuck.
Many years back I went to a testimonial for a Barrow player called Colin Cowperthwaite. It was against City in Peter Reid’s early days. It was a bloody awful evening and I think we were lucky to get a 2-2 draw.
From a financial point of view testimonials are good for the ones getting the money, but bloody awful spectacles usually.
Having said that; seeing David Silva and Sergio at the ground one last time would be very special.

any testimonial game should never be looked at as a meaningful game of football ? but just a celebration of a players loyalty to the club and fans. if the match was a meaningful event clubs/managers would never release players to play in them.

i would rather have a big showcase ? maybe music gig and show big video highlights on the big screens the player himself given like a (this is your life) sort of thing
