I don't want to slate David because it is an absolute joy to watch him but he does need to improve.

Starting with knowing how to eat a Bakewell tart.

He was Spain's best player until the second half when they collapsed. Should have scored his main chance but that aside he was constantly winning the ball in dangerous areas and cutting out The Dutch momentum. It's a shame that the miss will be trotted out as a reason Spain didn't go on to win but Silva will cope with that. Hope he's not made the scapegoat but I get the feeling he will - as has been alluded to by others I get the feeling Del Bosque will drop him without a second thought whilst keeping Xavi and Iniesta in there.

Iniesta was great at keeping the ball in tight areas and allowing Spain to play in their usual way whilst I thought Silva did more to actually affect the play. He nipped in twice to nick the ball in dangerous areas where Costa should have done better. He was instrumental in the penalty and found himself in a great position for his main chance which was a great save in the end. Spain were the better team in the first half I thought and Silva played a major part in that.

Nothing to do with the fact that their engine room is finished.
Xavi has gone and Alonso is not too far behind him.

If Silva is dropped it's ridiculous, him and Iniesta were streets ahead of everyone in the first half. The real problem was Casillas, Ramos and Pique, they were absolutely dreadful. I get the feeling that if you put Pique in a mid table side he wouldn't stand out as a great player. Also the fact they started with Xavi, Busquets AND Alonso is just overkill in the centre of midfield, you've got to drop one of them and if it was my choice it would be Xavi for Koke. If Del Bosque cops out and drops Silva I'll take great joy in watching them exit the tournament.

I wouldn't disagree that Iniesta had more of the ball, like it said though, I felt he had it in areas where Spain were comfortable, in and around the centre circle and inside the first 10-15 yards of either half whereas I thought Silva created the better chances and kept the Dutch back four on their toes. Hopefully he'll get his chance again..

I don't agree that the game would be over if Silva scored though. Holland clearly had the better forwards. Robben and Van Persie are deadly when given so much space.

If Spain had Navas and Negredo upfront, they could have actually given Holland a game.

I'd like to see us signing De Jong back btw. Straight swap with Garcia would be great.

Even I could score more from big chances vs the goalkeeper than Silva.

Awful finisher, he rarely scores when you think he will. Usually score when only touches the ball once or some great goal from not a big chance or from easy tap ins from the goal line.

LKike his huge goal vs Hull. That wasnt expected. Or the way he headed the ball in EC final 2 years ago vs Italy. Not something you could have expected.

Or yesterday he scored a goal from close but was offside.

But on one one with the keeper, he tries to pass, lob, or just shots into the GK way too often. Imagine if he could finish chances like Agüero on top of his creative skills...

Spain deserved what they got, that kind of defending was awful, Alonso, Busquets, Xavi, Ramos, Pique, Casillas, Azpilicueta, I mean Blind's passing was great but no one watched him at all, why?

Spain needs new blood, luckily for them they have it in Isco, Koke, Illaramendi, just like Barca needs lot of new blood some different plans, spain too.

The team generally had a good first half (save Costa who should not be on the team, much less playing—dirty, horrible player)...

But Iniesta, Xavi, Xabi, Ramos, and Casillas all had horrible second halves. Iniesta gave away the ball every other touch, Xavi become nonexistent, Xabi had difficulty deciding who to mark, Ramos let his man get a two or three yard start far too many times, and Casillas was just... Awful.

Silva and Jordi Alba were the only two that had good games (not wonderful, as they both made mistakes, but much better than their teammates). But Del Bosque already did what he has in the past: scapegoated Silva and Torres because they are easy targets and it helps him to avoid taking the blame for horrible decisions to bring/play Costa (who does not fit the system and isn't fit) and start Casillas (who is so rusty he would fall apart on a bumpy road).

It won't come up, but he also made a huge mistake leaving Navas and Negredo at home. They both would have been match changers yesterday.

He plays favourites. And while that has worked in the past—mostly because Xavi and Iniesta were in their prime—it will not now. I look forward to him being replaced for the Euro campaign.
