Which game this season do any of you think he has been better than average ? Arsenal away at a push but they had 10 men for nearly 90 minutes .

Granted Yaya , Aguero and Kompany have not been as good as last year but Silva as been massive let down.

Real Madrid home game for one when he was better than anyone else on the pitch. Fulham where he scored two goals. Chelsea where he set up both goals. His form has improved as the season has gone on.

Whoscored isn't exactly a gospel but I find it to be one of the better stats/ratings sites because its player ratings are backed by statistics, and they have Silva in their team of the season so far: http://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/To ... ier-League

So are you telling me that in your opinion Silva should be in that team instead of say Mata and Hazard ?

Yes. Mata and Hazard share the load (with Oscar too) while we rely on Silva for EVERYTHING, there is so much pressure on one creative outlet (Silva) at our club. Silva is targeted and closed down quickly because clubs know there is no other great creative source in our team. At Chelsea if you try to mark out Hazard, Mata (or Oscar) will get you, and vice versa.

Surround Silva with other playmakers and he would have more space and freedom to create. He's a better footballer than Mata and Hazard but ideally would play alongside players of this ilk. Nasri should be the one who contributes more to ease the burden but doesn't so we're left with a creatively stagnant team and over reliance on Silva.

Can't agree at all, Silva has been outstanding in recent weeks

Absolutely this. We rely on him way too much. If we had other players such as Mata next to him we would see the best of him. Just watch him for Spain next week and I believe he will show his true colours!

This. Frightening how much we rely on him - involved in everything we do in an attacking sense. Not been as good as last season, clearly, but still head and shoulders our best footballer - suggestions that he has been 'average' or 'poor', even, are bollocks. Suffers when Aguero doesn't play, because without him our movement up front and ahead of the ball is, put bluntly, not very good.
