I don't think it's about playing wide or centrally, it's more about who's playing alongside him. Teams like to double mark Silva and sometimes it's near impossible for him to find space (particularly when carrying an injury).
De Bruyne is another who gets at least two defenders around him at all times because of how little space he needs to make an impact. Also, at the beginning of the season - when Silva had some fantastic games - defenders clung to Sterling before they later realised we weren't allowing Raheem to play to his strengths.
I don't think it's any coincidence that he played so well today with Kevin back in the team.
It's also quite a close call as to who was the best footballer between Silva and Morrison, but I think David just edges it.

Only 4 assists behind his best ever season with 7 games to go. Second best in the league this season. Why oh why would Pep want to keep such a player...
there' an interview with Merlin somewhere on the OS where he says he thinks Danny boy is the most skilful player he's seen over here.
Puskas before him was about as good!
sorry wrong thread should have been on the Milner one!Danny boy?
Please call on my English but not on this man my phone might correct my English (it fooking don't ) but my god CHECK your self if you think this man os finished..... For fook sake we suffered Jamie Pollack in midfield need I say more......!
This. And nothing but this.I think he's far from finished but his decline has started. Hardly surprising given his age, his ongoing problem with his ankle and the fact he's been kicked to death for the best part of a decade. He hasn't affected games this season when we've needed him to and it's really shown up how reliant we've been on him to do that week in week out for the past few years. Still a great player, but that assist statistic clearly doesn't paint an accurate pictute as he's been way off his consistent best this season.
For me, he's past his peak, but given it was quite a massive peak there's still plenty to offer (even if it's not quite as good as it used to be).

I'd say he's the best I've ever seen in a City shirt, although Aguero is close. And Toure not far behind.
Then again I starting watching City in the 80s, so it's been slim pickings to choose from until relatively recently.
Regarding your question, I think my username might give you a clue..:-)
