David Silva

I wouldn't say he's underrated anymore in the premier league. He's widely regarded as one of the best by pundits and a lot of supporters. The BBC have even mentioned he's been majestic tonight.

Thought he was excellent first half but faded in the second. All it showed me was that he's still going to be one of our most talented intelligent players, and rather than run him into the ground for 90 minutes twice a week we need to rotate him more. He's still going to unlock plenty of teams who just sit back on the end of their box.

Sensible comment, much more sensible than the idea that he isn't good enough for a Pep team. I actually think that in a properly set/up and balanced team (I.e. not a Manuel 4 4 2) he will be excellent, and if we have Ferns, Gund, Sergio, Kelechi, Nolito, Sane, David, KDB, and another more defensive midfielder and Aube, or something along these lines, forgot Raheem and Navas and Samir as well, then there will be rotational options galore. Personally I still think Yaya might be in the mix as well for another 12 months. David will be a key player for at least 2 or 3 more seasons, I am sure of it

The assist to the assist. David in a nutshell.
Best City player ever.
He looks like he is playing more freely than he was with us last season. I noticed him contesting high balls far more. Can we put this down to his ankle problems being improved and him being in less pain Bluwhit?

Whatever, it is great to see him back to his very best. Cant wait to see him under Pep next season.

In the games I've watched so far he's been brilliant for 60 minutes then seems to have tired, he's possibly not 100% match fit or it could just be that Spain as a team seemed to drift, especially last night.

There's no doubt he'll be central to Pep's plans though.

Always plays better when playing with players who keep possession and move, so it's no surprise that Silva looks more comfortable now.

Yet with the same players at City his form fluctuated. Ankle was a problem

Silva and Yaya are the two best City players I've seen. Quite why some of our fans have seemingly written him off and/or place him behind KDB in the starting line up pecking order is beyond me.

If Silva had been at Barca instead of with us, imo I think he'd have been rightly lauded as one of the world's best players and rated up there with Iniesta and Xavi. I was too young to fully appreciate Colin Bell, but from what I can remember and from recent footage I've seen, Yaya and Silva were on another level. Whatever, Bell was from another era so comparisons will always be difficult to make, but its been an absolute pleasure to have witnessed David Silva up close for so many years.

Absolute City legend.

For the first 20 minutes, Croatia played too deep, and Silva looked the best player in the world.

Different story in the second half. Croatia pressed narrow, and Silva became marginalised, struggling to impose himself.

Silva's ankle was a problem, granted, but he was not playing with the same calibre of players. For all their prospective talent, Sterling and Iheanacho surrender possession all too easily and move far less off the ball, while Fernando/Delph/Sagna cannot pass as accurately. We only came close to playing prolonged one-touch football when we had Silva/Nasri/Toure/Aguero/Tevez in the team. When any one component was removed our football changed, and not for the better, unfortunately.

looked very good first half but dropped off when the pace upped in the 2nd half, drifted a bit out of the game sadly

Excellent first half and was still good second half. His form dropped a lot less than the rest of the Spanish team - but that was due to the pressing and higher line the opposition played after half time.

For someone with his passing ability he is a long way off KdB's dead ball delivery accuracy.

Not really in it today, struggling to make any influence, looks to be having one of his half hearted type games,he's not alone mind.
