David Villa

My guesses are they discussed:

1. Allowing Barca a free run at Villa provided we get a shot at Eto'o
2. Allowing City a free run at Villa because they are keeping Eto'o
3. Discussing Henry's availability because Barca are going for Villa

2. Makes no sense from Barcas point of view.

You forgot 4. Agreeing a world record transfer fee taking Michael Ball to the Nou Camp.

Latest post by the Toffeeman on citymancs...does anyone think there is any substance in this or is this guy a wum?

"A meeting was held on Monday morning regarding future transfers regarding players who will be leaving in the summer. Another meeting was held yesterday, with regards to offers which have been submitted for a few Valencia players.
There have been three bids received for David Villa. Man City is one club. Another English Prem team and an Italian club. There are also two other clubs who have asked to kept up to date with the situation regarding Villa. This of course will put his valuation up. Which will obviously not deter some of the teams interested in him.
Villa has expressed his wish that this impending transfer goes ahead as soon as possible, as he does not want it to be prolonged for the sake of himself, his family and of course the Valencia fans.
It is my understanding that offers will be accepted once they reach a certain amount. (Which i am not going to post.)
As soon as the offer is accepted Villa will sign a pre-contract agreement as soon as he can. He knows where he wants to play his football next year and it is not on the continent.
Once the pre-contract agreement has been signed I'm not sure when the deal will be confirmed. The deadline for the impending transfer has been set for the 22ND of June 2009.
So on June 22ND, i will either be proved right all along or take an incredible amount of stick. I would say there is Man City and one other English Prem team at the forefront of this deal, and I'm well aware that no team could match Man City's spending power, however there is no way the other team involved could even come close.
I know where he will be on 22ND June. And i know where i will be".

hang on a minute, i thought the transfer window didn't open till the 1st of July?

Forzacitizens, he stated that Villa would sign a pre-contract agreement with the club in question. Whether it will be announced Huntelaar style fashion or not I don't know.

1) Can sign players at any time
2) Problem is you can only register players to play for the new club during the Transfer window i.e 1/7/09 to 31/8/09
3) We could sign him on 25th May if we wanted we haven't got any more games until start of season by which time we will register him during the transfer window.
4) Reason clubs don't normally sign outside window why pay a player his wages when he ain't playing (for us that probably doesn't enter the equation because of our finances)This is why a lot of clubs wait to the end of the window it is purely financial and some manager feel they get better deals.

Thats how I see it anyway.

GNNA BE A LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG SUMMER

This is going to be a long thread or we will have about thirty of them saying the same thing. Bad enough keeping track of all the players keeping track of all the threads will do my head in.
