He was a right winger and when he started out as a young was lightning quick...scored some great goals too but my overiding memory was his crossing ability...and it's not a happy memory

Bit like SWP, then!
I don't remember the crosses being quite that good!!! but I much better goalscorer.

Musampa goal

He was the best City player in the last 30 years - bar none !!!

He was a Manchester lad (Urmston I think)
He was a City fan and a season ticket holder in the North Stand
Grew up with the youth team
Youth Cup winner
A Hat trick in the 10-1
Vital part of the 5-1 (V United in 89)
Scored goals for fun
Setup goals for fun
Watch any goal from about '89 to '93 and you can bet he was there or there abouts
Played a huge part in City finishing 5th, twice running (we finished only 12 points off the top in 1991/92)

None of your foreign, modern day mercenaries can come close to matching David White !

Musampa goal

Looks like I was wrong I think it was Lee Croft that set up Musampas goal? Although I'm sure Bradley missed a great chance either before or after that?

As for the Weikens goal at Stoke. I think that's the first time I've seen that goal since the match on the Friday night. What an spooky atmosphere it was that night given what had happened a few months before between us after our relegation at the same ground.

Was watching a DVD called 'Bolts from the blue' which showcases 200 City goals and this fella interested me. He seemed quite a clinical striker by all accounts, what are your memories of him?

It also shown Kinkladze at his skillful best. Bold statement, he looks better than Robinho did last season for us. I loved him beating 5 players (including the goalkeeper) to score the goal against Southampton!

It also shown Eyal Berkovic and it made me want him to come back in all honesty. If he came back in his prime and at about Stevie Ireland's age then that'd be perfect competition for Superman in my books.

Anyway, enough from me, it's a great DVD so if you can get your hands on it then it's highly recommended.

He was one of my heroes when i was growing up watching City, him and big Quinny!!

For many City fans of my sort of age (32) now David White was one of the few bright sides in the hardship of supporting City (especially in that rag infested shitehole of Little Hulton). It was a real shame the England pressure got to him.

Lake, White, Rosler, Quinn were the city legends of my youth, they were grim days we were pretty shite for most of it and the rags were just starting to win stuff

I played against White in 5-a side at the jjb soccerdome about 4 years ago, he was huge but still had the ability

City have been blessed with great wingers over the years. Peter Beagrie was something else. Can't believe he never earned a full England cap.

The cross for Hinchcliffe's "chance at the far post" was the best, most pinpoint I've ever seen...if Beckham had done it we'd be watching the replay before motd starts even now.
During the two seasons under Reid some of White's crosses to Quinn were superb. It was almost a double act.The oppo knew what was coming but couldn't do a thing about it.

I'd still love to see those two at their 90's peak in City shirts today.

thought we had a new summerbee at the start of his career, but he levelled off before reaching that heght. Stuart pearce put him into the kippax(nearly) a couple of times and he had no answer but against some teams/full-backs he was a great threat, as long as he didnt have to think, head down -touchline- cross, classic wingplay.
