Paul moulden mate and i bought this book from a city meeting in the summer, gary james was there that night and it's a great read...

Sorry, I think you've mistaken someone else for me. I haven't been to a City meeting this summer and it's not my book (though I'd encourage anyone to buy it). I have previously interviewed Moulden in his chippy though. He's a great guy and I sat on a sack of potatoes as he fileted fish - one of my favourite locations for an interview and I really did enjoy chatting with him.
So it was, arn't i a proper numpty, yep it was andrew waldon..
I could have sworn it was gary james...
Sorry about that..

Anyway loved whitey, lakey, redmond etc. Those were the days when i used to do about 15 aways per season.

Steve Redmond is so underated nowadays by many, i thought he was fantastic, and despite being a scouser he was blue through and through. I suddenly felt really old when his son Daniel came on as a Wigan sub against us on Tuesday though!!!

I didnt know that, hope the lad does well.

He was released by Everton and has been at Wigan a few years now. 2 seasons ago he spent a few months on loan at Hamilton Accies. Think he played one league Cup game last season and one on Tuesday too.

Paul Moulden's lad was released by the rags last April and is now at Blackpool.

remember going to villa , we won 5-1 and he scored four , he was unplayable that night , he could beat any fulll back for pace , and scored his fair share of goals for a winger . He got an england cap and i thought he went downhill after that , but always gave 100% for us . Amazed we didnt have more success with the players from the 86 youth team lake, brightwell, hinchcliffe, redmond, white, moulden, scott etc all made it to the 1st team .

More success?? My memory is shite but i dont remember any sucess.

You forgot the Full Members Cup Final , the pinnacle of football achievment :)

My favourite memory of David White - the 5-1 v Rags, he received a pass (from Ian Bishop?) and although the ball was bouncing awkwardly he chipped a delicate first-time cross for Hinchcliffe to head a stunner past Jim Leighton for the fifth goal. He was bloody good when you think of the likes of Adrian Heath and Nicky Summerbee.

He was a one trick pony while on the wing...drop off the full back, run like fuck at him onto the ball and then anything could happen from a super ball to a Huckerby run into the stands.

For my money playing in a front 2 with Quinn was his position, his pace running onto Quin,s flicks was scary for the slow centre hakfa of the time.

As a winger thought always thought Simmo was better and had a more complete game.

He did give me some highs and lows. The 4 at Villa, the comeback at Liverpool and the Derby County goal when Niall saved a pen spring to mind along with his missed chance at the swamp.

Grew up idolising this guy.......never forget being a certain age and being in awe of the sky blue shirt against f***ing boring white, royal blue, horrid red, black and white and all the rest of the shittiest colours you can think of!!!!
Phillips and brother? They were the days.

Loved the guy in his day.But could balloon a ball over the crossbar from 2 yards. We had the potential to become a very good team at the time.Mis-management put paid to that.
