His lack of skill would have been cruelly exposed in the modern game.

A 1990's player who was very much "of his time".
Spot on . He was quick though .

He was like lightning!

There was no better sight for City supporters in the late 80s / early 90s than David a White in full flight down the right wing.

Probably correct with the " good for the time" quote. Whitey was lighting fast, strong but not particularly physical, had a decent shot on him and was pretty good in the air. He couldnt beat a man by dribbling, he put it in space behind and got there first. His biggest problem for me was a total lack of vision. Liked him though.

He was shite? Really???? He scored 1s 2s 3s even a Four. If a player did any of that for us on Sat at his favourite ground we would be celebrating it like we do. He was brilliant. Not had a player like him since until maybe now with Navas. Did brilliant also as a converted centre forward and whoever said everyone used to love him aint right either. He got stick and never ever hid from his duties and outpacing left backs and blasting accross the keeper was a joy to behold. Imagine Antonio Valencia against an U13 girl left back and you have Whitey. Awesome.

I was at Villa Park when he scored 4 goals!
I think the newspapers of the day referred to him as a 'jet heeled striker' which was very true.
His pace was lethal and he was big part of our team in the 80's.
I think he and his family run a skip hire business nowadays.
