Dawn Butler MP

Anyone who pays any attention knows Boris is a liar and a fraud but there's millions of people who don't pay attention who vote for him because he comes across to them as a friendly, somewhat eccentric, affable character who they feel gets a hard time and is doing his best (e.g. my mother-in-law). Anything that raises his profile as an out and out liar, bullshitter and danger to the nation has got to be a good thing even if it only gets through to a few of the people who vote for him. They certainly aren't listening to Starmer however much he calls him out in proper parliamentary language on a Wednesday.
That's exactly the relevant point. We have a nation full of people who don't care about politics so can't see past the populism because they don't look. They've tuned out long ago. BRexit turned it into white noise for them. Whatever PG fucking Woodhouse does or says they just curl their lips and go "They're all liars" now because he's a bit of a laugh. Until a charismatic leader comes along who can engage these people then we are stuck with it.

If the archaic Erskine and May rules that governed the so called Mother of Parliaments were brought up to date then why would it grind to a halt. The Turkish parliament had a decent brawl one time and I am pretty sure other Parliaments will at some point have descended into violence. When freedom of speech is denied because of those archaic rules then something has to be done about it and I would imagine there would be huge support for it.

And surely it is something these RW freedom of speech warriors like Toby clownpants Young would applaud.
Many parliaments have brawls. None of them are democratic.
There is a reason archaic rlues survive. Iconoclasm is never attractive and rarely successful.

We all know that Boris is a liar and we don't need a Labour MP to repeatedly say it so that she can get Friday off and find herself in the papers. Boris wasn't even there ffs (barely anyone was) so what was the point?

Labour just aren't an opposition and they pose no alternative whatsoever, they are either a protest march or a weak thimble of irrelevance.
The point was to raise her own profile

Was last sitting before summer, she knew it wouldn’t impact her constituents in the slightest but would make the news. Very shrewd move by her.

I don’t expect we will see a wave of MPs regularly do this however.

The HOC is like a Sunday football match where the referee has lost control, the Speaker has not upheld the rules or corrected the way the government or this PM has behaved.

This has seeped through to other MP's behaviour, Jacob Rees answering a serious question on fisheries by "saying they are happy because they are British fish". Johnson lying, repeatedly or mouthing "ooh yay". Constantly going around parliament with key announcements.

You could be here all day.

It's a badly run debate club at a boys school.

Part of the fun of Parliament is watching these cunts calling each other cunts but without actually saying the word ****.

Obviously it would be better if they could spend their time making legislation rather than trying to call someone a **** … come to think of it, maybe it isn’t.

Dawn is a very good constituency MP who has used her position to highlight inequality in it and the country.

Does the thought of her having potential leadership ambitions concern you?

Personally I don't think she's ever fancied it.

Actually, you could probably call another member a nonce under parliamentary privilege, but not a liar.
One of the four defences against slander is Parliamentary Privilege,I remember this from the Law section of my HNC

"Defamation is the publication of a false statement that causes a person to be subject to hate, ridicule or contempt, or to be shunned by right thinking members of society generally"

I'm sure this would be the same for libel and slander.
