South Lakes zoo is pretty good and its one of the cheapest around too. Its compact and you don't have to walk a long way between enclosures as they're pretty much side by side. It's worth it to see the tiger climb that telegraph pole in about 2 seconds - if you ever thought you could outclimb a tiger this will hammer home the fact that you will be eaten even if you only had a foot to climb to safety!

Just beware of the monkeys around the cafe - must be scousers - they jump onto your table and nick your food literally from out of your hands. The lemurs will climb on your shoulder if you sit still enough.

After that you could call to Leighton Moss RSPB reserve -

Only a few quid to get in and there are wild deer knocking about as well as the birds. Get a cheap bird spotters book from one of the discount book shops. I'm not a twitcher but the kids love seeing the different birds and looking them up.

My recent days out with the kids.

Took them to London for the weekend and had a ride around on the tube, did the tower bridge tour, took them along the south bank (had a swift pint), on to the imperial war museum (they surprisingly loved it although I wouldn't recommend the holocaust section for u14), over to Westminster to see big ben etc, down to buckingham palace then nipped into M&S to buy stuff for a picnic in hyde park. They really enjoyed it.

I'll be going again in a few weeks, hopefully go to the national history museum and take them to a show in the west end.

Took them to the lake district last month, dragged them up the langdales and did a couple of peaks, they hated it :)

Last week when it was sunny but windy, went to argos, paid £20 for a 1.4m kite and took them to the sand dunes between blackpool and lytham. Whole beach to ourself and they had a great day for £20 plus petrol money.

Next week I'll be taking them to their first big rock concert to see the foo fighters at milton keynes, should be an eye opener for them.

Our lot took all the kids to Conway the other week, spent hours on the harbourside catching crabs(out of the sea) must of caught 30 or more, some big fuckers as well, then in the afternoon went upto the Welsh mountain zoo just down the road, brilliant day out all the kids loved it,if you go to the zoo check out the Andean Condor, the biggest bird i've ever seen n i've seen some big birds!

Is Britain's smallest house still by the harbour side ?
I remember standing in the living room/kitchen and my head was in the bedroom. Haha.
Nice place Conway, lots to do.
