Unless lying was pointless. And in this case, lying would indeed be pointless. I doubt Rummenigge woke up this morning and thought to himself, "I know, I'll fuck with the heads of Manchester City. Not only will I lie about not bidding for KDB, I will (out of nowhere) say this decision was taken ages ago. That will show the sky blue upstarts".
