TBH I think he would have blocked the progress of one of our young players. Now there is a place for them to get into the squad and count towards the home grown quota

For me, it's the 2+ months of dicking around. We could have been looking at other targets instead of watching them move to other clubs. Dybala was available and half the price, for instance.

Pogba and De Bruyne aren't the be all end all, you're right. It's the opportunity cost that hurts because most of the alternatives have moved on.
