Fair play to our saviour Joey Barton on talksport. They tired getting him to slag off the De Bryune deal but he defended the fee & wages as being 'the going rate for top players' & how we're paying no more than other top clubs do.

£55-58m for the Bundesliga POTY, especially given his age, is not a fee that should be derided. Can you imagine how much it would cost for a club to sign Hazard? Good luck getting him for what we're paying for De Bruyne. There's no reason why the deal should be any different just because it's the Bundesliga the player's coming from.
